Next Man Utd Manager Odds: Solskjaer, Glasner & Tuchel in the frame to be in charge for 2026/27 season
After Ruben Amorim was sacked as Manchester United manager on Monday, The Red Devils face Burnley tonight with their former midfielder Darren Fletcher in charge. It looks likely that INEOS will appoint a Caretaker Manager to fulfil the role until the end of the season and then make a permanent appointment in the summer.
With rumours rife on who is the favourite and as fans discuss who the best man for the job is, we look at the Betfair odds for who will be in charge at the beginning of next (the 2026/27) season.

The Contenders
Here are the main contenders for the permament role. Remember Betfair Sportsbook will settle bets based on whoever is in charge for the first game of the 2026/27 season.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer leads the way in the betting largely due to the expectation that he will be given the caretaker role until the end of the season. Having fulfilled this role before and then been given the permanent role afterwards, will lightning strike twice and OGS be given the chance to lead the side next season?
Oliver Glasner is perhaps the sensible choice given he has Premier League experience and success after guiding Crystal Palace to their FA Cup win last season. The question is whether United will want to appoint another manager whose most recent success has come playing with three at the back.
Gareth Southgate has been out of work since leaving England and clearly has admirers within the Manchester United leadership team. He would surely be an unpopular choice with the fans though.
Thomas Tuchel ticks many boxes in that he has Premier League experience as well as top level experience across Europe and now in international football. Could he guide England to World Cup success and then jump ship to United?
Enzo Maresca is available after leaving Chelsea and has experience working with the likes of Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada at Man City. Given the issues Maresca had at the end of his Chelsea tenure it feels unlikely that the United board would risk appointing him.
Darren Fletcher takes charge for tonight's match against Burnley and obviously fits in perfectly in terms of United identity. Whilst the job may be his in the future this could be a little too soon for him.
Luis Enrique has reportedly refused to sign a contract extension at PSG and could be available to English sides in the summer. Given his success at PSG he would surely be highly sought after and the prospect of returning United to former glories could be an enticing project.
Michael Carrick is the other main contender for the caretaker role and, if given the job, he could be a very realistic contender to continue in the role if he is successful.
Kieran McKenna has thrived since leaving Man Utd getting Ipswich promoted to the Premier League with a pretty meagre squad. He is highly rated but perhaps he is more one for the future rather than now.
Sebastian Hoeness is very highly rated and has been perofrming well at Stuttgart. He lacks the Premier League experience that United are looking for though.
Zindedine Zidane would be a blockbuster signing for Man Utd and he proved at Real Madrid that his mangement skills were up there with his playing skills. Another who lacks experience of the English league though.
The Rest
There are lots more credible contenders for the job including Barcelona legend Xavi, Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola and Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi. Check out all the latest odds in the table above and then click through to Betfair to place your bet.
