Friday's Most Napped Horses
Yesterday's most selected Nap Elaton bolted up after being heavily backed all day, and today there must be a good chance the horse with a huge six votes as the best bet NAB WOOD does the same in the Kelso opener. A 2 mile 6 handicap hurdle on soft / heavy ground will prove quite a stamina test but Nicky Richards' charge, who will be ridden by Sean Quinlan, should be suited to the test after winning a novice race over this course and distance on heavy ground just over a month ago with no pressure whatsoever applied from the rider that day. This is undoubtedly tougher but on handicap debut he could have bundles in hand from this mark and is the one to beat.
A couple of horses are Napped by four and three experts respectively. Starting with the couple that are supported as the best bet by four, Al Rufaa will go in the 18:45 at Wolverhampton and looks value to be shorter than the current price with Rossa Ryan in the plate, while veteran Empire Steel has been well supported in the 15:25 at Kelso for the top Scottish combo of Sandy Thomson and Ryan Mania.
The two horses with three votes as the best bet of the day are Wadacre Gomez, who interestingly takes on Al Ruffa in the aforementioned Wolverhampton contest, and Eloi Du Puy who will be battling with the most Napped horse of the day at Kelso in the 13:55.
Follow The Leaders
After regaining the winning thread yesterday, Spotlight will look for two winning Naps in the row by siding with the second favourite AL RUFAA in the 18:45 at Wolverhampton. With a £12 cushion at the top of the table, a win with Friday's best bet could see them go as far as £15 clear and Al Rufaa makes plenty of appeal on the back of some solid form. He has won here in the past but clearly needs a strong pace to aim at, which he should get here.
West Country head to Fakenham for their Nap of the day and are playing it safe with 4/6 shot FARLAND in the 16:50 race. The Nicholls and Cobden charge is related to Minella Cocooner and while looking a bit of a thinker in his bumpers so far, looks much the best in this field and should take all the beating. Finally, Templegate of The Sun is also off to Fakenham for their best bet, IMAC WOOD in the 15:10. He has picked up a seven pound rise for his romp last time out and although that will make things tougher, but he has been revitalised this season for Deborah Cole and could make another bold bid here.
- Spotlight - Al Rufaa - 18:45 Wolverhampton - P&L: £17.21
- West Country - Farland - 16:50 Fakenham - P&L: £5.03
- Templegate - Imac Wood - 15:10 Fakenham - P&L: £2.80

How About Stat?
Dylan Browne McMonagle has made a real name for himself recently in the Irish flat scene and with a 45% strike-rate over the last fortnight, he tops our hot jockeys table today. He has four rides at Dundalk tonight, with a couple of short priced favourites for Joseph O'Brien, so that strike-rate could very easily be improved by the time today's action is done...

Racing News Round-Up
- Jamie Moore Retires From Riding - At the age of 39 Jamie Moore, Grade 1 winning jumps jockey and brother of the best flat jockey around Ryan Moore, has brought his brilliant riding career to a close after admitting his body cannot take it anymore. We will never forget his association with the legendary Champion Chaser Sire De Grugy.
- Pic D'Orhy Supported At Ascot - Despite the presence of L'Homme Presse, who is single figures in places for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, in the field for this weekend's Ascot Chase, PIC D'ORHY has been well supported at a track he loves to upset the favourite for Paul Nicholls.
- Ferny Holl-No - Sadly, the return of the high class but fragile FERNY HOLLOW will not take place this weekend in the Red Mills at Gowran after he was not declared. Connections blamed his scratching on the heavy ground.
