Horse Racing Tips: Top Tips From Wolverhampton And Newcastle
The weather has softened a bit this Friday, but the damage to tracks has been done and we fans of the sport face a quiet weekend following the decimation the cold snap has caused. Today there is no Market Rasen or Lingfield today - although the latter have nimbly moved their card to Sunday when things should be much warmer - and so we are left with just Wolverhampton in the afternoon and evening action at Dundalk and Newcastle.
Here we take a look at the most popular Naps of the day, the choices of the Naps table leaders and zone in on a very eye-catching stat indeed...

Friday's Most Popular Naps
Just one horse has been selected as the best bet of the day by five experts, PALACE BOY in the 13:40 at Wolverhampton. Ralph Smith's charge will be ridden by George Rooke and is one of the day's strongest market movers already, seeing his price shorten last night and this morning further. He used to be a hurdler with Fergal O'Brien but could hardly have done more when winning on stable debut 23 days ago, bolting up in a decent handicap when a 9/2 chance by six lengths. The horse has been handed a 10lbs rise in the weights, but the suspicion is that won't be enough to stop him and he has earned the vote of the Naps table leaders The Punt, along with four other judges.
Two horses have been selected by four pundits as the best bet of the day, the first being AL FARABI. Roger Varian and Jack Mitchell combine with this Kingman gelding, but a word of warning is that he has been weak in the market so far today. That could of course rectify itself in the lead up to the race at 14:15 at Wolverhampton, and the horse looks to have plenty in his favour to go one better than his second place just over three weeks ago.
The other horse supported by four competition entrants is MOON FLIGHT for Linda Perratt at Newcastle in the 18:45. She has entrusted a man with a great recent record at the track in Tommie Jakes to take the ride, and in this five furlong dash it will be crucial Jakes gets a good position to stalk the pace as the horse usually loves. He finished a solid second at Wolverhampton last time out but was too prominent, so a revert to his usual tactics here could prove the key to success.
Follow The Leaders
The second placed outfit in the Naps table Spotlight are running with the crowd today, backing the most popular Nap on our grids to get the job done in PALACE BOY. The horse obviously has outstanding claims, but The Punt could really extend their lead atop the leaderboard if NELSON GAY - a 13/2 chance at the time of writing - wins at Newcastle in the 18:45 at Newcastle. They are taking on one of the most selected Naps of the day in Moon Flight, but this is a C&D winner and the combination of Paul Mulrennan and Michael Dods are to be respected as jockey and trainer. The horse has to turn around form with Pepsi Cat at Wolverhampton just shy of three weeks ago, but seems to save his best for this track nowadays.
Brian Flanagan could rocket himself up the leaderboard with a win for his best bet of the day today, with the third placed pundit siding with CHICA POWER in the 18:00 at Dundalk. The horse is a huge 14/1 at the time of writing, but even those big odds pale compared to the choice of fourth placed expert Rory Paddock who has sided with ALEX THE GREAT at a huge 28/1 in the race an hour beforehand! Those two best bets could be a fun each-way double for punters who like a big priced punt.
- The Punt - Nelson Gay - 18:45 Newcastle - P&L: £17.87
- Spotlight - Palace Boy - 13:40 Wolverhampton - P&L: £12.51
- Brian Flanagan - Chica Power - 18:00 Dundalk - P&L: £12.36

Stat Of The Day - A Cracking Combo
At Wolverhampton, a team that have a strike-rate when paired together of OVER 50% are back in tandem once more. Trainer Gary Brown and jockey Taylor Fisher have a 57% success rate at the track when teaming up, and they partner up to send PYRRHIC DANCER to the 16:25 gunning for glory. The horse has already seen a bit of money for it and is into a 3/1 chance, will you be backing the deadly combination to enhance their Wolverhampton record?

Racing News Round-Up
- Ascot Succumbs To The Weather - It was expected, but we are still gutted to see Ascot's brilliant Saturday card, which was set to be headlined by round 3 of El Fabiolo vs Jonbon, has been abandoned due to a frozen track.
- ITV Forced To Think Fast - The head honchos at ITV Racing have been nimble and got four races from Wolverhampton in today's ITV3 slot, with expectation being we will see more AW action on Saturday on terrestrial television.
- Haydock Also Off - Those in the North West will not be surprised to see Haydock's Saturday card, headlined by the Peter Marsh Chase, has also been abandoned. We here at HR.Net towers cannot wait for Jack Frost to pack his bags!
