Horse Racing Tips: Skelton Newbury Raider Well Fancied

The flat is back this weekend with the Lincoln at Doncaster, but before that we have a decent Friday full of racing to enjoy. Here we take a look through the Naps, stats and racing news before the weekend begins...

Follow The Leaders
We have to wait for the very last race of the day for the Naps table leader Brian Flanagan's selection, PALACE ROCK in the 20:30 at Dundalk. Francis Casey's C&D winner wore cheekpieces for the first time last time out here a fortnight ago and they seemed to do the trick, with the gelding much more attuned to his job and travelling quite well through the race.
He is on a fair mark to go a few places better today and could be an attractive each-way bet for those who fancy that.
West Country remain in second place and they are off to Newbury to the stacked card for their Nap. At 15:00, Nigel Twiston Davies sends THE NEWEST ONE here with son Sam in the saddle and on the back of his third in the River Don last time out, he is definitely the form pick in the race if he runs well fresh (he has been off over 50 days).
Finally, Matt Polley has usurped Spotlight in third in the standings and he has given his vote of confidence to course winner MUMCAT in the 19:45 at Newcastle. This horse is hardly prolific, but he interestingly does have blinkers on for the first time here and at a tasty price he could spring a bit of a surprise in what is a winnable race.
- Brian Flanagan - Palace Rock - 20:30 Dundalk - P&L: £12.29
- West Country - The Newest One - 15:00 Newbury - P&L: £10.85
- Matt Polley - Mumcat - 19:45 Newcastle - P&L: £3.54
Friday's Most Popular Naps
Interestingly, the two most popular Naps of the day come in the same race at Newbury today. With six votes, the most popular choice as the best bet is DOYEN QUEST in the 15:33. Dan Skelton sends this one out with brother Harry in the plate and after finishing at Taunton last time out 11 days ago, he is effectively 6lbs well in for this contest.
It looks another smart bit of placing from Britain's best team at Cheltenham this year and he can make his presence felt.
With four votes as the best bet of the day, the chief market rival to Doyen Quest in the 15:33 DAVID'S WELL is today's second most popular choice for the best bet. His claims are not quite as obvious as those of the favourite, however Chris Gordon's charge is still only five and must have plenty of improvement in him. He finished a good fifth in a novice race here before claiming victory at Plumpton and will be one of the rivals Dan Skelton is most concerned about.
Finally, a couple of horses have been Napped up by three experts respectively. Firstly, in the 14:50 at Hexham WALK MY WAY for Micky Hammond is well supported, while later on at Newcastle in the 18:45 STREAK LIGHTNING for Ruth Carr also has three pundits siding with him as the best bet of the day.
How About Stat?
Rose Dobbin tops today's longest traveller list, with her charge in the 16:43 at Newbury travelling a whopping 347 miles south. This is the stable's only runner there of the day so let's hope they plunder some prize money to make the long drive home more cheerful.

Racing News Round-Up
- Chazzesemee well backed for history bid - Fozzy Stack's Irish Lincolnshire winner Chazzesmee has been well backed all week for the English equivalent at Doncaster and is now favourite in places. He would make history if completing the double.
- Newbury battle awaits - The Trainers Championship could well go down to the wire this season and Paul Nicholls and Dan Skelton collide at Newbury today in a number of the races. How will the scoreboard look come close of play today?
- Cieren Fallon returns today - After a freak stalls injury , Cieren Fallon returns to the saddle today at Lingfield today after nearly four months out. He is freelance this season and will be hoping for plenty of support.
