Horse Racing Tips: Most Napped Horse Of The Day Runs At Southwell

The weather is yet again playing havoc with the scheduled meetings today, with Navan and Hexham abandoned. That still leaves Thirsk, Hereford and Southwell with meetings so let's dip into the Nsps, stats and racing news as the Aintree build up really heats up...

Follow The Leaders
After West Country's Nap bounded to glory yesterday, their lead is even stronger going into Aintree in the Naps competition standings. Today's pick is another at an attractive price, WHYNOTNOWROY in the 15:00 at Hereford. Karl Burke's charge is still winless, but is known to like soft ground which will be a plus today and his mark looks lenient enough on the back of some solid if unspectacular placed efforts.
On The Nose is still second and their Nap runs just fifteen minutes after the best bet of our leader, in the 15:15 at Thirsk. RUN THIS WAY represents Paul Midgley and while he is 17 without success, he has won over this C&D before and recently there have been decent signs that he is back on the upward curve. Brian Flanagan remains in third place and waits for the 20:00 at Southwell for his best bet, siding with ELEFTHERIA. Rossa Ryan rides for Paul and Oliver Cole and she put in a career best to win last time out at Chelmsford. This mark for her handicap debut looks tricky, but if she's still improving she has her chance.
- West Country - Whynotnowroy - 15:00 Hereford - P&L: £14.65
- On The Nose - Run This Way - 15:15 Thirsk - P&L: £5.21
- Brian Flanagan - Eleftheria - 20:00 Southwell - P&L: £3.44
Tuesday's Most Popular Naps
Just one horse has been opted for as the best bet by over three experts, and with four votes as the Nap GRESSINGTON in the 19:30 at Southwell will have plenty of eyes on him. Ed Bethell trains the gelding and this is his first run since that operation, following a break after winning here on debut before a solid second next time out in a better race at Redcar.
The grey could well improve chunks for being gelded and turning three, so providing he has no rust following his absence he is the one to beat today and the market is firmly behind him. In the Naps table, the most profitable expert siding with Bethell's charge is Jeffrey Ross of the Sporting Times, who sits in fifteenth.
How About Stat?
Kieran O'Neill is a man to follow at Thirsk recently, with a wonderful strike-rate of 57% at the track. He has a stacked book of rides at the course today and will hope to add a few more wins on his record...

Racing News Round-Up
- Aintree Decs Out Today - With just over 48 hours to go until the Aintree Grand National Festival begins, the declarations will be filtering through this morning. Be sure to check the twitter feed of @RoadCheltenham - our freelance writer - to see all the runners expected on Thursday as soon as possible.
- All 34 Stand Ground in Grand National - In what was a minor surprise, yesterday the top 34 in the Grand National stayed entered. There could well be a ballot needed to decide which of the horses nearly in get into the final field, but with the soft ground Ronnie Bartlett has already confirmed his duo (Galvin and Stattler) will miss out if good doesn't appear in the description.
- Farcical False Start At Wolverhampton - Nine withdrawals occurred at Wolverhampton after a crazy false start caused all but two of the field to be declared officially as non-runners as their jockeys could not pull them up in time.
