Horse Racing Tips: Stan The Man Leads The Way On Jockey Form
Three tracks host action today after Newbury was abandoned yesterday due to the weather. The first race is at 12:30 at Southwell over jumps, which should survive with the track's all-weather incorporation, and the final race comes from AW flat action at Kempton at 20:00. Here we round-up the most popular Naps, the picks of the competition leaders, the best racing stats of the day and bring you the news you need to know...

Most Popular Wednesday Naps
Unlike the past few days in racing, there is a spread of Naps across the table and a couple have been picked by four experts - making them the most popular of the day. Firstly, there is a prohibitively short priced favourite at Newcastle in the 13:10, the 4/9 shot LUNA EFFECT. Roger Varian's Sea The Stars gelding arguably should've won last time out at Southwell, with an unfortunate passage seeing him carried very wide when attempting to make a winning challenge. With more luck today, he should have no excuses.
The other horse backed by four experts is a more attractive price at 4/1 and runs in the 19:00 race at Kempton. TEA LEAF TED ran a smashing race to finish a close second over this course and distance a week ago and plenty think the winner is a useful animal. If he can reproduce a similar effort, then it is clear why a big name like Templegate would side with him as the most solid chance of the day.
HorseRacing.Net Say: "The claims of Luna Effect are obvious, but at the price there is no real value in backing him. Tea Leaf Ted, on the other hand, looks a brilliant price at 4/1 and we see no reason he cannot go one place better than his second here last week."

Follow The Leaders
After no wins for the top three yesterday in the Naps competition, there is a dose of safety first for the top performing outfit The Punt with their pick today. The joint most popular Nap of the day Luna Effect has been sided with by the leader as the best bet, and although the Varian gelding does look to have an outstanding chance of winning, the P&L column will hardly move if the horse does sail home in front as expected.
Brian Flanagan's pick comes in the following race (13:45 Newcastle) and is at least more of a betting proposition at 5/2 at the time of writing. STINTINO SUNSET runs for Julia Feilden and Dylan Hogan takes the ride, and the filly looks particularly interesting here making her tapeta debut. On breeding she should relish the switch, and she has certainly been in good form of late including a decent placed effort 11 days ago. She should be bang there come the finish.
In third place remains another Racing Post outfit and this time it is Spotlight, who have opted for JAMES JET in the opener at Southwell as the best bet of the day. Warren Greatrex's runner has to give lumps of weight away here, but the manner of his chase debut win last time out at Ffos Las, when he idled badly on the run in but still won, means he surely has some more up his sleeve ahead of the handicapper. He should relish stepping up to three miles and is worthy of the quotes of 2/1 and shorter for the first race of the day.
- The Punt - Luna Effect - 13:10 Newcastle - P&L: £19.87
- Brian Flanagan - Stintino Sunset - 13:45 Newcastle - P&L: £14.36
- Spotlight - James Jet - 12:30 Southwell - P&L: £13.51
Stats The Way We Like It
Our Stat Of The Day is back for Wednesday and once again we are looking at the riders. This time it is not about a hot course jockey, just a hot jockey in general!
"Stan Sheppard is in a rich vein of form of late, riding five winners in his nine rides that have taken place over the last fortnight. This gives him a 56% strike-rate, which is by far the best on our grids. He has two decent chances at Southwell today to improve the strike-rate, while also riding a 20/1 outsider. If you are following the Sheppard, a treble on his rides will pay out at 225/1 with our friends at BetMGM!"

Racing News Round-Up
- El Fabiolo Shortens For Dublin Chase - Racing fans were sent into frenzy as leading Clarence House and Champion Chase contender EL FABIOLO was smashed in the betting for the Dublin Chase at the DRF from 4/1 into Evens, indicating he would head there over Ascot. Owner Simon Munir poured cold water on speculation he would miss Ascot, however, so we should still get the mouth-watering clash with Jonbon this weekend.
- Support Sparky - In devastating news, a man integral to the Twiston-Davies yard for almost twenty years Richard 'Sparky' Bavis has suffered a fractured skull and eye-socket and been put in an induced coma after an accident at his farm on Saturday. Nigel Twiston-Davies's right hand man has had a fundraising page set up for him, which can be donated to here
- Expect a quiet Thursday - Newcastle, Wincanton and Ludlow have already cancelled their cards for tomorrow due to the cold snap. Fairyhouse will conduct an inspection at Midday Wednesday, and if they fail too it will be a very quiet day for racing fans come Thursday. Fingers crossed Fairyhouse survives!
