Chris Baker heads to Catterick for his best bet of the day
Tuesday’s two point bet at Southwell, Atwaar, was bitterly disappointing and could only finish fifth. Sent off as the well-backed 15/8 favourite, she was unfortunately slow out of the stalls and was then faced with a lot of kickback from the fibresand surface. She was in fine form prior to the race and will no doubt be back to winning ways in a similar contest soon.
There was no bet yesterday, but I’m back with one selection today. Good luck if you decide to follow.
CUDGEL (NAP at 7/1) lines up for his second start over fences in the Novices’ Handicap Chase at 13:35. His debut over the larger obstacles came back in June over an inadequate distance of 2m4f. He jumped well before being outpaced, which was no surprise given that he is a strong stayer over longer trips. He went on to end 2019 in really good form in three starts over hurdles, recording figures of 213. His most recent placed effort came here at Catterick races, and with rain forecast, today’s conditions should be ideal for him to get off the mark in this sphere.
