When is the 2022 Galway Festival?

One of the summer showpieces in the racing calendar is the Galway Festival, which serves up seven days of superb equine entertainment and the 2022 edition is soon to be hitting the headlines. With action taking place on the Flat and over the sticks, the Galway Festival has a bit of everything for all racing fans, and with huge crowds providing a perfect atmosphere at the Irish venue it's one of the most popular weeks of the year on Irish shores...
Set to start on Monday 25th July the festival goes right through until Sunday 31st July, and during that time you will see some top quality racing taking place across the seven days and the likes of Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott, Dermot Weld and Aidan O'Brien are sure to have a host of contenders lining up at a meeting that can produce some excellent winners.
The feature event of the entire week is the valuable Galway Plate, which is a handicap chase run over 2m 6f 111y and it can attract some top notch handicap chasers that can often use it as a springboard to bigger and better things in the winter months. It's not unknown for horses to run well in the Galway Plate and then feature at the Cheltenham Festival later in their careers, so it's certainly a must-watch race and the 2022 Galway Plate will take place on Wednesday 27th July.
A day later the Galway Handicap Hurdle will take centre stage and that will be another devilishly difficult punting conundrum for punters to try and work out, and yet again some of the contenders in that event could have featured at the highest level prior to taking their chance in the competitive event.
There may be some top quality Group racing taking place at Glorious Goodwood throughout next week with the likes of the Sussex Stakes and Nassau Stakes just two of the feature races on the level, but there's some decent Flat action at Galway and on day two the Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap will be the feature race, and that can be a decent punting contest.
One thing for sure is while the action on the track will be enjoyable, for those attending it will be a unique experience with some hugely entertaining entertainment both on and off the track, and the 2022 festival is set to be absolutely thrilling.
Make sure you return to HorseRacing.net next week as we will have all the latest racecards, odds and tips throughout the week, and in particular the Galway Plate and Galway Handicap Hurdle will prove very popular on site, and our tipsters will attempt to point you in the right direction of finding the winner.
