What is the Henry VIII Novices' Chase?
The Henry VIII Novices' Chase is a Grade 1 race run at Sandown Park over two miles and is open to horses aged four years or older. Run on the same day as the Tingle Creek Chase, the Henry VIII Novices' Chase attracts some of the premier two-mile novice chasers in training, who are all looking to use the event as a trial for the Arkle Challenge Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival. Some notable names have tasted victory in the Henry VIII Novices' Chase including Fondmort (2001), Al Ferof (2011), Altior (2016) and Allmankind (2020).
