About the Maghull Novices’ Chase
The Maghull Novices' Chase is a Grade 1 event at Aintree, run over two miles, and is traditionally held on Grand National Saturday.
Like many high-profile races at Aintree, the race gets it's name from a town local to the area, Maghull, and tends to involve runners who ran in the previous month's Arkle Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival.
The race has several illustrious names on its roll of honour, including Sprinter Sacre and Douvan.
Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden combined once more for a big winner to kick off Grand National day in 2025 with KALIF DU BERLAIS a sublime winner off the front end.
