About the Maghull Novices’ Chase?
The Maghull Novices' Chase is a Grade 1 event at Aintree, run over two miles, and is traditionally held on Grand National Saturday.
Like many high-profile races at Aintree, the race gets it's name from a town local to the area, Maghull, and tends to involve runners who ran in the previous month's Arkle Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival.
The race has several illustrious names on its roll of honour, including Sprinter Sacre and Douvan.
Jonbon was an emphatic 43-length winner of the Maghull Novices' Chase on Grand National day as Nicky Henderson's hot favourite cruised clear of his rivals to claim Grade 1 glory.
