About the Britannia Stakes
The Britannia Stakes is a handicap race run over one mile on day three of Royal Ascot.
Currently run as the penultimate race on Thursday, the Britannia Stakes is one of the toughest betting heats of the entire week. First run in 1928, it has become one of the most exciting races of the entire week, as while it may lack the quality of some of the Group races during the week, it is a popular betting heat with bumper fields going to post.
Harry Eustace's Docklands edged out New Endeavour to claim the 2023 Britannia Stakes in fine style.
Britannia Stakes Key Trends
- None of the last 10 winners have been favourite
- Four of the last 10 winners have carried 9st 2lbs or more
- Only one winner in the last 10 renewals has come from stall 9 or lower
Britannia Stakes Tips
Sean Levey and Richard Hannon have already had a brilliant week after a fantastic win with Rosallion in the St James's Palace Stakes on Tuesday and while a win in this race would not be quite as sweet, there is a case to be made that their horse THE CAMDEN COLT has been unlucky in defeat the last few times and can get his head in front at big odds here.
