Paul Townend will get the choice of an abundance of top-class performers from the yard of Willie Mullins, and the Closutton-based rider is sure to have a favourite's chance. At the same time, Nico De Boinville will have the joys of riding Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle, Sir Gino in the Arkle and Jonbon in the Champion Chase amongst others for Nicky Henderson so the Seven Barrows stable jockey could put pressure on the aforementioned Townend.
Outside of this duo it's tough to see a winner emerging, but Mark Walsh may well get involved as the retained rider of leading owner JP McManus who has a huge army of leading chances across the week. Jack Kennedy is touch and go to make it following another sad injury but will have his chances as Gordon Elliott's top man unless still injured in which case Sam Ewing at the same price could step up.
Harry Cobden and Sean Bowen may predominantly be riding big priced runners but will fancy their chances of a few winners apiece, while Harry Skelton will be hoping for a winner or two for brother Dan but surely doesn't have the firepower to compete with Townend and De Boinville. Jack Kennedy looked set to miss the Festival through injury but he's back providing a huge boost to the Gordon Elliott team.
