What is the Adonis Juvenile Hurdle?
The Adonis Juvenile Hurdle is a race open to four-year-old horses that is run at Kempton Park in February and can attract some of the leading juveniles in training. It can sometimes be used as a trial for the Triumph Hurdle and down the years some horses have won the Adonis before going on to land Triumph Hurdle glory at the Cheltenham Festival.
Attracting some top notch runners in its history, the winner of the Adonis is often a smart performer and the likes of Well Chief, Punjabi, Zarkandar and Knight Salute have claimed glory in the race, with some of those going on to bigger and better things at the Cheltenham Festival. It can not only throw up Triumph Hurdle contenders, but like Punjabi that raider used this as a springboard to Champion Hurdle glory later in his career.
