Cheltenham Results Review 2021: Who can win again in 2022?

There's no bigger form boost than Cheltenham Festival-winning form, and there will be a host of previous winners at the four-day National Hunt extravaganza aiming to reign supreme once again. We take a look back at last year's Cheltenham Festival Results, and pick out four horses that can bound to glory again...
Telmesomethinggirl - won 2021 Mares' Novices' Hurdle - runs in 2022 Mares' Hurdle
One of the lesser spoken about Henry De Bromhead-trained winners at last year's Cheltenham Festival was TELMESOMETHINGGIRL, who bounded to an emphatic five-and-a-half length victory in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle, and she's back for more in 2022. Currently the clear market leader for the Mares' Hurdle, the seven-year-old has failed to taste victory in all three of her races since that festival win, but she will be primed for another crack at the March showpiece, and a return to Prestbury Park can bring out the best in here.
Last seen giving weight away to the likes of Royal Kahala and Heaven Help Us in a Grade 3 Mares' Hurdle at Leopardstown in late December, Telmesomethinggirl was only beaten just over a length that day, and off level weights at Cheltenham on day one of the meeting, she can reverse that form and get her head in front. She will face a lively adversary in the shape of the Willie Mullins-trained Stormy Ireland, who has some smart form at the track, but the De Bromhead charge comes to light in the spring and she can claim glory on March 15.

Bob Olinger - won 2021 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle - runs in 2022 Turners Novices' Chase
BOB OLINGER produced one of the finest performances of the entire 2021 Cheltenham Festival, as the Henry De Bromhead-trained star scooted to a rampant seven-and-a-half length victory in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle. Now, sent over fences for the new campaign, he's made a smooth transition to the chasing game recording a brace of wins from as many runs.
A six-and-a-half length winner on chasing debut at Gowran Park, the seven-year-old then claimed Grade 3 glory in the Kildare Novice Chase at Punchestown. Pulling comfortably nearly five lengths clear of Capodanno that day, Bob Olinger produced a much more encouraging jumping display, which leads you think he can be a real tough nut to crack in the Turners Novices' Chase on March 17.
Currently a shade of odds-on, at the time of writing, his task could be made a whole lot easier if Galopin Des Champs bypasses this event and heads to the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase the day before, but in L'Homme Presse he will face a major rival. However, with that front-running Venetia Williams-trained raider sure to set a fierce gallop from the outset, Bob Olinger can duly track him and pick him up in the closing stages to win at back-to-back festivals.

Sire Du Berlais - won 2019, 2020 Pertemps Final, 2nd in 2021 Stayers' Hurdle - runs in 2022 Pertemps Final
With a lot of last year's winners set to be sent off short-priced favourites for this year then it's worth veering away from the most obvious winners like Honeysuckle (Champion Hurdle) and Shishkin (Queen Mother Champion Chase). Now, SIRE DU BERLAIS could only finish runner-up behind Flooring Porter in the Stayers' Hurdle last season, but the Gordon Elliott-trained star is a dual Cheltenham Festival winner as he won the Pertemps Final in both 2019 and 2020.
The JP McManus-owned raider is being targeted at a third Pertemps Final this time around, and he is currently vying for favouritism, but with the bookmakers going 7/1 the field then there's certainly value on the ten-year-old. A winner of the 2019 Pertemps off 145, he then claimed 2020 glory off 152, so will need a career best in the contest on March 17, as he lines up off a mark of 156 in the day three event.
With top weight to defy he will need to be at his best, but he is sure to come on leaps and bounds for his recent fourth placed finish at Warwick, and having been dropped 2lb for that effort then he has to stand a terrific chance in a race he excels in, and he could be one of the leading handicap fancies of the week.

Galvin - won 2021 National Hunt Chase - runs in 2022 Cheltenham Gold Cup
There's a wide open look to the 2022 Cheltenham Gold Cup with last year's gutsy winner Minella Indo aiming to retain the crown he won with aplomb last season. However, the Henry De Bromhead-trained star has failed to fire on all cylinders this season and could be downed by another 2021 festival winner in the shape of Gordon Elliott's progressive eight-year-old, GALVIN.
With no real standout contender in this year's event, it could prove to be a real war of attrition for those lining up, and Galvin showed when winning last season's National Hunt Chase that stamina is certainly one of his key attributes, and while some of his rivals begin to falter turning for home, he will relentlessly gallop up the hill in his bid for glory.
The current second favourite behind A Plus Tard, Galvin was last seen narrowly edging out that rival in the Grade 1 Savills Chase at Leopardstown in December, and with a longer trip sure to suit the Elliott raider then he can duly frank that form and claim the blue riband event on March 18.
