Grand National Entries : 107 horses entered for Aintree showpiece

There have been 107 horses entered for the 2022 Randox Grand National, which is set to take place at Aintree on April 9. Reigning champion Minella Times along with dual winner Tiger Roll feature among a list awash with top notch chasing stars...

Henry De Bromhead's Minella Times produced a scintillating performance to hand Rachael Blackmore a monumental victory in the Grand National last spring, and the Irish raider is one of the many exciting staying performers entered for this year's race, as he attempts to emulate the legendary Tiger Roll, who has been given an entry himself in the contest.

All eyes maybe on the Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival for Tiger Roll, but Gordon Elliott's star could end his campaign at Aintree in April, if connections allow him to take his chance. We maybe over two months away from the tapes going up in the world's greatest steeplechase, but the excitement will build over the coming weeks, and the betting is sure to take notable shape.

Ted Walsh's Any Second Now is currently sitting at the head of the betting at 16/1 and he's entered, while leading Cheltenham Gold Cup contender Galvin is another priced 16/1 and he too has been handed an entry.

Ten of the first 11 home in last season's Grand National were Irish-trained and they have an embarrassment of riches in this year's event with the likes of Run Wild Fred, Farclas and Mount Ida just another classy trio that could take their chance in the spring showpiece.

Charlie Longsdon's Snow Leopardess could be one of the spearheads of the British challenge and the classy grey, who claimed glory in the Becher Chase earlier in the season, is set to take her chance, and she is a 25/1 shot. Former Welsh National winner Secret Reprieve will be another that relishes the test of stamina the Grand National offers and he's a major eye-catchers.

Others of note that could play a prominent role include the Martin Brassil-trained Longhouse Poet, who was a fine winner of the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park last week and sent a notable message about his Grand National credentials, while another improving chaser is Burrows Saint, who finished a fine fourth behind Minella Times in the 2021 National, and he is sure to benefit from the experience.
