Horse Racing Tips: Five Votes For Day's Most Popular Nap

Just three tracks host racing today, with Taunton and Market Rasen flying the jumps flag and Wolverhampton the place for some AW flat action on a low key Tuesday. Here we take a look through the Naps table and highlight some of the most interesting, provide an eye-catching statistic, round up the racing news after a busy weekend and debut our "Focus On The Festival" section!

Tuesday's Most Napped Horses
As is expected when races are thin on the ground, there is plenty of consensus today in the Naps table. A total of four horses have been given the vote by three experts, with a trio from Market Rasen and one at Taunton. Definitely the most interesting is AUDACIOUS AUNTIE for Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan, who is available to back at as big as 10/1 with BetMGM at the time of writing for Market Rasen glory in the bumper at 16:05.
Just one horse has received more than three votes as the best chance of a winner today, and that is GOOD LORD for Billy Aprahamian and Gavin Sheehan. After looking a no hoper in late 2023, going off 100/1 in a novice hurdle at Newbury and finishing well down the field, he was given a wind op and an 81 day break before absolutely bolting up at Plumpton just a week ago. He was well backed that day, going off 10/1 in the end and although he is now odds-on for this race, if he brings that same form to the table - as can be expected on the second run after the wind op - then he should be well clear of this field. Spotlight at the top of the table are one of the quintet of experts to side with Good Lord as the best bet, as well as Lee Sobot in seventh.

Follow The Leaders
Spotlight are bolting away in the Naps table a la Frankel in his 2000 Guineas romp, showing a £25.55 profit to a £1 stake which puts them almost £20 clear of the nearest challenger. They are hat-trick hunting today after no runner yesterday and two weekend winners at Musselburgh, and although an odds-on shot GOOD LORD should take all the beating at 14:35 at Market Rasen. The horse looked reborn when winning by 11 lengths last time out at Plumpton and providing the short turnaround doesn't scupper him one would expect another Spotlight Nap to sail home.
West Country still sit in second and their Nap could make more appeal at current prices to some, with MERRY MONTY available to back at 3/1 or bigger with BetMGM at the time of writing in the 15:20 at Taunton. This handicap chase looks to be a perfect opportunity for the horse to go one better than his New Year's Day second behind the smart Bill Baxter and a three pound rise for that run looks fair. Finally, The Irish Sun have no Irish action to go at today and thus are heading to Wolverhampton for their best bet with LOCAL MUSIC in the 18:30. She is similar to the aforementioned Merry Monty in that she finished a fine second last time out and can go one better here, with the filly given just one pound for that short margin defeat.
- Spotlight - Good Lord - 14:35 Market Rasen - P&L: £25.55
- West Country - Merry Monty - 15:20 Taunton - P&L: £ 7.15
- The Irish Sun - Local Music - 18:30 Wolverhampton - P&L: £5.98
Stats The Way We Like It!
Up and coming trainer Harry Derham, formerly the assistant to Paul Nicholls, has a mean 40% record at Market Rasen and sends just one horse to the track today. The trainer benefited from the big dispersal sale yesterday and has 6/1 poke A DUBLIN JOB to the 13:35...

Racing News Round-Up
- Market Moves Aplenty After DRF - The Dublin Racing Festival saw plenty of claims both enhanced and diminished for Cheltenham Festival glory, and you can see what the respective performances have done to the antepost markets for the big week in March here...
- Caldwell Potter Sells For Record Fee - Yesterday saw the dispersal sale of the Caldwell Construction owned horses, and the headlines were made mainly by CALDWELL POTTER, a Grade 1 winning novice hurdler who sold for a record €740,000 and will now move from Gordon Elliott to Paul Nicholls.
- Elliott Keeps Four - At the aforementioned dispersal sale, Gordon Elliott managed to keep hold of a few of the horses and seems happy enough. He has kept hold of the exciting STAFFORDSHIRE KNOT amongst others, including Fil Dor and Pied Piper who both sold for eye-watering numbers.
