ITV Racing Tips: Our best bets for a Sunday at Goodwood and Beverley

We are in for a real treat this weekend as the usual quiet Sunday is replaced by another set of stacked cards from Beverley and Goodwood after the Saturday showpiece 24 hours earlier. With the action being broadcast live on ITV Racing we have enlisted Billy Grimshaw, fresh off his latest Racing League winning tip, to provide his thoughts on the cards for us...
13:50 Goodwood - William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap
The first race set to be shown live on ITV4 is a six furlong handicap. Obviously when a big field is entered for contests such as this the draw is of paramount importance, however with this race only attracting a field of seven then a high draw may not prove as beneficial as it once would around the track. It will certainly do no harm though, and favourite MANY A STAR is drawn highest of all in seven. He looks to have leading claims for Tom Marquand and Paul Cole, particularly if able to repeat his course and distance win. This field could be described at best as an out of sorts bunch and at worst as fairly mediocre, but Many a Star comes here in fine form off that effort and with his liking for the track and distance confirmed, I can't see the rise in the weights proving much of a problem against this opposition. No apologies for being boring, I think the favourite takes the first.
Atalanta's Boy is somewhat interesting for a new yard that does well with switchers, while Fivethousandtoone under William Buick will undoubtedly be more suited to this test than the seven furlongs he faced last time out. Dusky Lord is another changing trip but he is going up a furlong after a solid if not spectacular 11th at York over five furlongs last time out, and probably rates the main danger to the selection.

14:05 Beverley - bet365 Handicap
Richard Fahey loves a winner at Beverley as a Yorkshireman and I think he has a good chance of finding another here with GRIFTER. it's taking a bit of a leap of faith to assume this son of Dandy Man will bring his A game after a number of disappointing efforts throughout the campaign, but if he is in the same form as his course and distance win back in June he must have a great chance. He won that race off the same mark he is set to race off here and the way in which he battled to see off Tangled that day was impressive. Granted he's not been the same since but there are excuses to be made and I am willing to give him another crack at what should be a nice price.
Strangerontheshore loves it round here but the handicapper looks to have finally caught her and it would take a tremendous performance were she to secure a third C&D win. Head Chef looked the winner at Ripon last time out when travelling well before being collared late and having to settle for second and with a more patient ride here should be in the mix, while George Ridsdale returns from a lengthy absence but if primed should find this mark more than workable.

15:00 Goodwood - William Hill Handicap
Just the five runners for this contest at Goodwood but every member of the quintet has a realistic chance of victory, which at least adds intrigue to a race which on the face of it looked disappointing. Falling Shadow for the team of Buick and Appleby looked to have run a career best last time out at Newmarket when behind Night Of Luxury. This duo pulled well clear of the rest of the field and with a repeat performance it will take a smart one to beat the Godolphin representative, although the expected easy ground may not be optimum. Paradias will face no such concerns regarding the weather or ground as he is proven to relish a softer surface and he has run well at this track before, a tick in the 'course form' box that is so crucial around Goodwood.
Savvy Victory is another runner with soft ground form in the book and the horse that just squeezed home in front of him last time out has won since, which is of course a positive. He will receive weight from the field so cannot be ruled out, and another that will receive weight from all barring Savvy Victory is expected outsider of the field Maytree Respite. David Probert's mount has shown good form on firmer ground than expected over the summer and has a chance, but the one I'll be siding with is AL MUBHIR for William Haggas and Tom Marquand. This duo, and the trainer in particular, have done phenomenally this season with horses like this making handicap debuts and I think there is enough in this son of Frankel's form to suggest he can begin his handicapping career with a win over this new trip which on pedigree and running style should suit.
Al Mubhir
15:35 Goodwood - Weatherbys Stallion Book Supreme Stakes
This is the big race on Sunday and I think although likely to start favourite, Happy Power is one to take on. His performance last time out in the Lennox Stakes was much more like it and finishing behind Kinross and Pogo, who went on to frank the form at York, is a very decent performance. However, he has disappointed too many times to be trusted when a short priced favourite like he looks destined to be today and despite his impressive course form I'll be taking him on and hoping he throws in one of his regular stinkers. DOUBLE OR BUBBLE is next in the market and gets my vote to claim this Group Three prize after some cracking runs in the Group Ones the last twice. Beaten just over three lengths in both the July Cup and the Platinum Jubilee, doing all her best work late, has marked her out as an ideal type for a race like this and I think she could still be on an upward curve so is taken to secure the win here.
To my eye the top two are a fair way clear in this contest but Ever Given hasn't had much chance in races of this grade to show how good he is so he cannot be completely dismissed, while Misty Grey is a decent all weather performer and if the ground gets softer could get involved.
