Grand National 2022: Lostintranslation Profile

Colin Tizzard's former Grade 1 winner Lostintranslation is one of the class acts lining up in the 2022 Randox Grand National, and we take a look at the ten-year-old's profile for the Aintree showpiece on April 9...
Lostintranslation
Age: 10
Trainer: Colin Tizzard
Chase Runs: 18
Chase Wins: 5
Notable Race Wins: 2019 Mildmay Novices' Chase, 2019 Betfair Chase, 2021 1965 Chase
Seventh in the 2018 Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, Lostintranslation blossomed over fences the following season and was a gallant runner-up to Defi Du Seuil in the 2019 JLT Novices' Chase back at Cheltenham. However, he finally managed to grab his first Grade 1 success as he bounded to glory in the 2019 Mildmay Novices' Chase during Aintree's Grand National festival.
Touted as the next emerging top class chaser from the Colin Tizzard yard, Lostintranslation then sparkled outside of the novice arena as he won the 2019 Betfair Chase at Haydock Park and he ended that season with an excellent third placed finish in the Cheltenham Gold Cup behind Al Boum Photo.
Since then, though, he's struggled to reach those sort of dizzy heights with any sort of regularity, and it wasn't until he won the 1965 Chase at Ascot at the start of the season had he shown his first rate form, but since that Grade 2 win he's struggled to follow up this campaign.
Fifth in the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park, beaten 27 lengths, he was next seen pulling in the Grade 1 Ascot Chase over 2m 5f, while he could only finish eighth in the Ultima Handicap Chase at last month's Cheltenham Festival, so he has form to find with some of his rivals here off a relative high weights.
A proven class act that could be value if he takes to the test of a Grand National, but stamina is sure to be a worry for a horse that has often been most impressive around two-and-a-half to three mile trips.
