Today's Horse Racing Tips: Three to back on day one of Cesarewitch meeting at Newmarket
There are three bets for today’s racing at Newmarket.
Newmarket Tips
15:00 – 7f Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff Awards Challenge Stakes (Group 2)
CHINDIT (NAP - 1 point win bet at 10/3) enjoyed a fine juvenile campaign with his only defeat from four outings coming in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes on soft ground over this course and distance. He returned with a victory in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury before respectable defeats in three consecutive Group 1s: 2000 Guineas, St James’s Palace and Jacques le Marois. He looked unlucky in the Group 2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood when last seen and can gain a deserved fifth career success here. The drying ground will be in his favour and this stiff seven furlongs could be ideal. This Richard Hannon-trained colt is the highest rated horse in the field but has a good chance at the weights given that he will receive 2lbs from the horse I consider the biggest danger: Al Suhail. The consistent Double Or Bubble is next best.
16:40 – 1m2f Newmarket Pony Academy Pride Stakes (Group 3)
Soft Whisper was really impressive over a mile here last time out and looks to have a good chance of maintaining her unbeaten record when ridden by Frankie Dettori. However, slight preference is for Godolphin’s other representative and the mount of William Buick: SAYYIDA (1 point win bet at 8/1). This beautifully-bred daughter of Dubawi won her first two starts this season and has been second in two of her three other races. As a filly with plenty of stamina, the drop back to ten furlongs isn’t an obvious move. I’d therefore expect Buick to attempt to make this a real test and she can hopefully outstay her rivals.
At a bigger price, I am also taking a chance on SWEET BELIEVER (0.5 point win bet at 16/1), who has improved with each race and now takes another step up in class. She will be well suited by today’s ground conditions and can reverse the Yarmouth form with Ville De Grace and Freyja despite appearing to have plenty to do at the weights.
