There are five bets for today’s racing at Kempton and Warwick.
Kempton Tips
13:32 – 2m4½f Coral “Fail-To-Finish” Free Bets Handicap Chase (Class 3)
Things didn’t go to plan for the progressive young chaser KAP AUTEUIL (1 point win bet at 9/2) at Cheltenham two starts back but he bounced back to form with a comfortable success at Fontwell last time out. Prior to Cheltenham, he had won four consecutive races by a combined distance of approximately 50-lengths. A full brother to the dual Grade 1 winner and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner up A Plus Tard, this Toby Lawes-trained six-year-old has jumped really well in the main. Today’s trip looks ideal and there could well be more improvement to come.

14:40 – 2m5f Coral Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle (Listed)
Several fascinating contenders but class can prevail with MARIE’S ROCK (NAP - 1 point win bet at 13/2) taken to build on an impressive course and distance victory on Boxing Day. That was her third career success and she’s kept some good company in her eight-race career. Seventh in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham two starts back, this Nicky Henderson-trained mare can take advantage of having a little more experience than some of her key rivals. With a Grade 1 entry and conditions to suit, I’m expecting a big run from this daughter of Milan despite the competitive nature of the race.
15:15 – 3m Coral Committed To Safer Gambling Handicap Chase (Class 2)
SMARTY WILD (1 point win bet at 5/1) has only won one of his nine starts over fences but has finished third on five occasions and rarely runs a bad race. He has shaped on several occasions as though there are some decent pots to be won and trainer Philip Hobbs looks to have found a good opportunity to get his head back in front off a low weight. Three of his seven rivals are very much towards the end of their careers and there are questions over a couple of the others. Kitty’s Light, another consistent performer, looks the obvious danger.
Warwick Tips
15:00 – 3m5f Agetur UK Ltd Classic Handicap Chase (Grade 3)
CORACH RAMBLER (1 point win bet at 13/2) comes here in fine form and can defy top weight to land this big prize. Lucinda Russell’s lightly-raced eight-year-old, a point to point winner and successful twice over hurdles, improved for his chase debut to win his next two starts by a combined distance of eight-lengths. Those wins came at Aintree and Cheltenham and marked him down as a smart stayer. With races such as the Scottish Grand National on his agenda, this step up in trip on soft ground should really suit.
Last year’s winner of the race, NOTACHANCE (0.5 point win bet at 12/1), showed more of his old spark at Haydock last time out and a repeat victory in this race has been his main target all season. He will relish the extreme test of stamina and is obviously already proven over Warwick’s tricky chase course. He has dropped down to the same handicap mark that he won off last year, and trainer Alan King has chosen to fit a visor for the first time.
