Victoria Cup Odds

The Victoria Cup is a handicap race run at Ascot for horses aged four years or older. Taking place in May, the Victoria Cup is run over seven furlongs and attracts a hugely competitive field of horses that fall just below Group level, but some winners have been known to go on to compete in Pattern company. It can often be a race that throws up a contender for the Royal Hunt Cup, which takes place at Royal Ascot over a mile. You can check out the odds for the Victoria Cup here...

What is the Victoria Cup?
The Victoria Cup is a handicap race run at Ascot in May and is open to horses aged four years or older. Contested over seven furlongs, the Victoria Cups is one of the toughest betting heats of the entire year with huge fields bidding for victory, but it can sometimes be a race that is won by a progressive performer, who goes on to compete at Group level.
Despite being a prestigious and valuable race in its own right, the Victoria Cup can often give trainers the chance to see what their horses can achieve, and many competing in the Victoria Cup are seen running in the Royal Hunt Cup over a mile at Royal Ascot in June. With some stepping up to a mile, those that don't see out the trip will drop back to six furlongs, and compete for coveted sprint handicap prizes.
What happened in the 2019 Victoria Cup?
Roger Varian's Cape Byron was a gutsy winner of the 2019 Victoria Cup, as the 8/1 shot fought off the fast-finishing Kynren to land the prestigious event by a neck. In a blanket finish, Kaeso managed to secure third spot, while Raising Sand bagged fourth spot, but it was all about Cape Byron who proved to be too classy for his rivals in a competitive renewal.
