1000 Guineas Entries: 16 fillies set for Newmarket Classic on Sunday

Impressive Cheveley Park Stakes winner Tenebrism heads the list of 16 fillies entered for Sunday's QIPCO 1000 Guineas, which takes centre stage at Newmarket racecourse on a cracking day's Flat racing at HQ on the final day of the Guineas meeting...

Aidan O'Brien's Tenebrism headed into the Cheveley Park on the back of one solitary victory, but he showed a tremendous turn of foot to claim Group 1 glory that day, and she will now look to replicate that effort on her return to Newmarket, and she currently heads the latest betting on the second Classic of the season.

O'Brien has a stunning recent record in the 1000 Guineas, as the master of Ballydoyle has saddled five of the last six winners of the race, and he could unleash a three-pronged attack, which will be spearheaded by the aforementioned Tenebrism. However, Naas maiden winner Tuesday will be looking to kick on from that success, while Toy, who won at Cork earlier this month, adds more depth to the O'Brien charge.

There's an extremely strong Irish charge for this year's 1000 Guineas and Dermot Weld's Homeless Songs won the Group 3 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown in eye-catching fashion, and the Rosewell House inmate will look to follow that up, while Jessica Harrington's Discoveries was last seen winning the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh and will now look to blossom as a three-year-old.

Francis-Henri Graffard's Malavath and Andre Fabre's Zellie did battle in a Group 3 contest in France last time out, with the former prevailing in fine fashion, and the pair are set to make the trip over to England for a crack at the Guineas and both warrant respect.

Fifth in the Fillies' Mile at the end of last season, Charlie Appleby's Wild Beauty bounced back to winning ways with a sparkling win in the Fred Darling Stakes earlier this season and she will aim to kick on from that success in what is set to be a wide open contest.

Other notable entries that can potentially sparkle include the likes of Mise En Scene, Cachet and Sandrine, who all have some smart form on their CVs and could land a blow in what should be an excellent showpiece event on a sparkling card at Newmarket this Sunday.
