Racing News Round-Up
- Industry Innovation Push: British Horseracing Authority (BHA) together with Flutter Entertainment have launched a “Dragons’ Den-style” innovation summit to attract new fans and fresh ideas into UK racing. The one-day event, scheduled for February 2026 at York Racecourse, is a direct response to research showing a significant disconnect between younger adults and the sport.
- Tax Threat: Fred Done, the owner of billion pound bookie Betfred, has threatened he will close ALL of his 1,300 betting shops should Rachel Reaves implement further tax hikes on bookmakers. This would see a major loss in jobs and potential media rights revenue for horse racing.
