About the Juddmonte International Stakes
The Juddmonte International Stakes is a Group 1 race run at York in August and currently takes place on day one of the Ebor Festival. One of the main events of the Flat racing season, the three-year-old Classic generation that may have competed at Royal Ascot as well do battle with their older adversaries and it can often be a race that throws up a major player in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe betting.
First held in 1972, the International Stakes is a race littered with top-class winners with Roberto being the inaugural winner. Dahlia (1974 & 1975) was the first dual winner of the race, while more recently Giant's Causeway (2000), Sea The Stars (2009) and the mighty Frankel (2011) have all tasted victory in the Group 1 prize to show what an illustrious roll of honour there is.
John & Thady Gosden's Mostahdaf was a top notch winner of the 2023 renewal as the 3/1 shot beat Nashwa, with Paddington back in third.
