Horse Racing Tips: Cox and Ryan combine for Thursday's most popular Nap
Irish racing is back today with Cork hosting action, while there are three meetings taking place on British shores. Things begin at Chepstow at 14:15 and wrap up with the 20:30 at Southwell, so here we delve into the Naps, stats and racing news...

Follow The Leaders
Brian Flanagan is still leading the Naps table despite West Country having a winner yesterday in second and his Nap failing to grab first place. He sides with a JP runner for Joseph O'Brien today, with top rider Mark Walsh onboard JEANIEMACARONEY. This Highland Reel gelding has been lightly raced and although he wasn't given a hard time last time out at Punchestown, his sixth placed finish can be marked up as he was clearly learning on the job. The late market moves will be instructive with this one.
West Country's Nap won yesterday in good style and he is siding with HAWK STONE for glory at Chepstow today. A fortnight ago, he ran potentially a career best when second in a handicap at Wincanton and if he sticks to his improvement in this sphere, he could be the one to beat here with only a 1lb rise to deal with. He is a decent price too at the time of writing. Finally, Spotlight are in third place and URBAN DANDY is the best bet in their eyes in the 19:00 at Southwell. He has won over this course and distance before and last time out over this C&D was a very close second. Off an unchanged mark it would be disappointing were he not to be in the mix.
- Brian Flanagan - Jeaniemacaroney - 14:23 Cork - P&L: £13.29
- West Country - Hawk Stone - 14:15 Chepstow - P&L: £11.85
- Spotlight - Urban Dandy - 19:00 Southwell - P&L: £3.27
Thursday's Most Napped Horse
Just one horse has been selected by three Naps competition entrants today, ENGINEER for Clive Cox in the 18:00 at Southwell. Rossa Ryan takes the ride onboard this Showcasing colt in a three year olds only contest and while this looks a competitive handicap, Engineer's fourth at Kempton last time out when cheekpieces were applied for the first time was an improvement on what he'd dished up before. If he is still on an upward curve, he can make his presence felt in here.
How About Stat?
After a stellar week at Cheltenham when he was once again crowned Champion Jockey, Paul Townend is the most in-form rider right now operating at 48% over the last fortnight. He has just one ride today, a fancied favourite at Cork. Check out who it is in our dedicated stats hub...

Racing News Round-Up
- City Of Troy Chat Intensifies - The most exciting juvenile we have seen come from Ballydoyle in many a year City Of Troy has had his season mapped out by master trainer Aidan O'Brien. Providing he stays fit and has improved over the winter, we could be in for an epic campaign full of Classic and Group 1 glory.
- Turners Under The Cosh - With plenty decrying last week's Cheltenham Festival as being too bloated, the intermediate novices' Chase the Turners has become the target on social media for those who think there should be fewer races in 2025 and beyond.
- James Doyle Almost Back - Top flat jockey James Doyle is riding out for his now retained trainer Roger Varian and is fully recovered from injury. He is aiming to return to the saddle properly next week in Dubai.
