Horse Racing Tips: Townend And Turner In Fine Form

Five meetings are set to take place today with the wild winds blowing, with the first race taking place at Fairyhouse at 12:30 and the final contest coming from Kempton at 20:30. There is one horse standing out in the Naps table that we will focus on after yesterday's most Napped won (just!) and we will also bring you the updated leaderboard. After pointing out Jack Kennedy's outstanding Down Royal record yesterday, the rider duly rode a four timer at the track so don't miss today's stat of the day...

Wednesday's Most Popular Naps
Catterick's card is at the mercy of Storm Jocelyn today, but hopefully it gets the green light as the most popular Nap of the day with five votes runs at the track and is attractively priced. EMPTY NEST is still unexposed and the six year old was a very close third over this course and distance last time out, so with his improving profile and his clear admiration for this test then it is no surprise to see the quintet side with him as the best bet in the 15:00 contest. The most profitable tipster at present to side with Mark Walford's runner is The Punt, who is currently second place to Spotlight in the leaderboard.
One other horse has gained the support of three experts as the best bet of the day and that is JAMES JET for Warren Greatrex. The horse is hat-trick hunting and has the services of top rider Harry Cobden in the plate as a bonus, and he was certainly value for more than the close winning distance at Ffos Las last time out when idling up the run-in. This looks a horse still ahead of the handicapper and Sirius from The Sun On Sunday looks to have an excellent chance of a winning best bet of the day with the seven year old.
Follow The Leaders
After The Bell Conductor won yesterday as the Spotlight Nap at 8/1, the outfit from the Racing Post have extended their lead past £10 of profit in the Naps competition. Today's horse that has been selected as the best bet from Spotlight is not quite as big a price as yesterday's but still looks rock solid at 2/1 and is BARREL AGED in the final race of the day at Kempton. Marco Botti's favourite won by just a short head last time out at Southwell but the horse he beat is reopposing here, De Vega's Warrior, and Barrel Aged comes out well at the weights in this rematch.
The Punt are siding with one of the most popular Naps in EMPTY NEST at Catterick, who looks the most likely winner of the race after knocking on the door a couple of times of late over fences. The Irish Sun in third sides with one in the final race at Fairyhouse who is attractively priced, JUNOT. The Make Believe gelding is hitting some decent form after a fine effort in fourth at Naas last time out and looks to be one of the better weighted horses in here, albeit the favourite could be hard to beat.
- Spotlight - Barrel Aged - 20:30 Kempton - P&L: £23.71
- The Punt - Empty Nest - 15:00 Catterick - P&L: £12.87
- The Irish Sun - Junot - 15:50 Fairyhouse - P&L: £11.98
Stats The Way We Like It
Two jockeys in particular are in fine form right now, with one being unsurprisingly the Closutton top man PAUL TOWNEND. He is riding at a sensational 59% with 10 wins from his last 17 over the last fortnight and could well enhance that ratio with a good book of rides at Fairyhouse today. HAYLEY TURNER is also in a winning groove of late, riding at 43% with 6 wins from her last 14 rides. She has a book of three rides later today at Kempton.
