Horse Racing Tips: Imperium tipped for Kempton glory on Wednesday
Five horse racing fixtures take place on Wednesday and the action begins at Lingfield Park at 11:20, while there's alternative racing at Hexham, Leicester, Dundalk and Kempton, with the latter finishing its bumper eight-race card at 20:30. We preview all Wednesday's racing here and pick out some of the most popular naps on our racing naps table here...
Roger Charlton's Imperium is a four-times course and distance winner at Kempton Park and the six-year-old will look to make it a fabulous fifth success on Wednesday in a hugely competitive 20:00 contest where he's currently a 5/1 chance. Despite the race looking a tough puzzle on paper, the Charlton raider has proven to be the most popular nap of the day as five racing tipsters have napped the six-year-old.
Current naps table leader Postdata from the Racing Post is one of the five tipsters napping Imperium in the 20:00, but there will be some competitive rivals lining up against the Charlton raider and Jim Delahunt from the Scottish Sun is backing the 12/1 shot Island Brave, while Jason Heavey from The Star has napped the 13/2 chance Duty Of Care in the same event.
Focusing on the afternoon racing, George Boughey's Pocket The Packet is another popular selection amongst our racing tipsters, as four of them, including the second placed tipster The Brigadier, have napped the 10/11 favourite who lines up in the 12:50 at Lingfield Park.
Moorestyle from the Daily Star Sunday sits in third place in the naps table and is another tipster that heads to Lingfield's all-weather card for the best bet of the day and that tipster has napped the 11/10 chance Cotopaxi Moon, who runs in the 14:35 contest, while one final eye-catching nap at Lingfield is Ower Starlight, who runs in the opening race at 11:20 and is the nap of Andrew Mount from the Racing & Football Outlook.
Mercury of the Daily Post is the form tipster in our naps table as they have managed to notch up back-to-back winning naps and they head to Hexham's National Hunt card for the best bet of the day. Mercury has napped the Mark Walford-trained 4/1 shot Ruby Island, who runs in the 13:05 at Hexham and the five-year-old mare was last seen finishing fourth at Cheltenham in November and will make a hurdles debut today.
There's alternative jumping action at Leicester today and Ben Morgan from Racing Ahead has headed in the direction of 11/2 shot Scene Not Herd for Charlie Longsdon in the 15:00 race. The seven-year-old will have the burden of top weight in today's event and will need to bounce back from a disappointing comeback run at Kempton Park, but he showed some smart form last season over obstacles so can't be completely ignored.
Other eye-catching naps on a fairly busy Wednesday include the 16/1 outsider The Mpex Kid, who is the best bet of Dean Kilbryde from the East Anglian Daily News and that raider runs in the 15:15 at Dundalk, while Fortunatus of the Sheffield Star is another that heads to Kempton's evening fixture on the level and that tipster has napped the well-fancied 2/1 shot Albion Princess in the 19:30 event.
