Race-By-Race Tips: Doncaster, Thursday 12th September

Nick Seddon takes a look at this afternoon's tricky seven-race card at Doncaster, and picks out a bet in each race.
Doncaster's card opens with an interesting fillies' nursery contest, in which it looks worth siding with the top-weight Stylistique for the in-form Roger Varian yard. She's still a maiden after three starts, but has shown plenty of ability so far, producing an excellent effort to finish a close-up fourth in a Group 3 contest at Goodwood last time out. That form is looking solid, with the runner-up winning a Group 3 contest since, and she could be up to taking this off her opening mark of 94 - particularly if David Egan can get her sitting prominently from an early stage. Company Minx and Graceful Magic head up the opposition.

Enbihaar has gone from strength to strength so far this season, and completed a double at this level with a taking victory in the Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood last month, roaring clear to win by five lengths. The fact that she has to concede an age allowance to the field this afternoon makes life tougher, but she will be difficult to beat if able to reproduce that Goodwood form, and gets the vote to complete a hat-trick of Group 2 wins. The progressive three-year-old Dame Malliot made it three wins from four starts when winning a Group 2 contest at Deauville last time out and can give the selection the most to think about.

Doncaster 15:15 - Electrical Storm
A painstakingly competitive affair for this valuable two-year-old prize, and it's possible to make a case for a host of the 20-runner field. Glasvegas makes obvious appeal after his excellent effort to finish third in the Windsor Castle Stakes in June, though at a bigger price it could be worth taking a chance each-way on Electrical Storm. Admittedly, he's proven expensive to follow in three starts since his promising debut effort at Newmarket in April, though he was perhaps slightly unfortunate to be just touched off at Newmarket last time out, and with this extended six furlongs sure to play to his strengths, it would be no surprise to see him take a step forward for his in-form yard.

Doncaster 15:45 - West End Girl
An open-looking renewal of the May Hill Stakes, for which Cloak Of Spirits is a strong favourite in the market this morning. Having made an impressive winning debut at Ascot in July, she's one to take seriously for a yard who traditionally do very well indeed with two-year-olds, but this represents a big step up in class for Cloak Of Spirits, and she may find the more-experienced West End Girl too tough a nut to crack. She impressed with her attitude when winning a Group 3 contest under a positive ride at Newmarket last time out, and this straight-forward type could take plenty of pegging back if able to get into a good rhythm up front - with the step up to a mile likely to play to her strengths.

Doncaster 16:20 - Hart Stopper
A wide-open finale to the Silk Series, in which Hart Stopper makes plenty of appeal. Megan Nicholls sealed a third straight win in this series with a race to spare at Wolverhampton last month, and it looks worth siding with her to hit the frame once again with Hart Stopper, who's been in good heart over the summer and arrives here just 2 lb higher than his last winning mark. The lightly-raced Drummond Warrior has made a strong start to his career and would be a big threat under Hollie Doyle if granted an easy lead.

Barring a disappointing run in the Britannia at Royal Ascot in June, Davydenko has been most impressive in four starts so far this term, and picked up his third win of the campaign in good style at Newmarket last time out. There looks to be more to come from him yet, and he can defy an 8 lb rise to pick up another success, with the step up to ten furlongs likely to play into his hands. The in-form Nicholas T is a big dander for the Jim Goldie team, while Good Birthday is another to consider for Andrew Balding and King Power Racing.

Davydenko
This revolves around Mutamaasik, who took his record to three wins from four starts when running out an impressive winner at Newmarket last time out, and although a 10 lb rise demands more from him here, he's improved in each of his outings so far, and there's likely to be more to come from him yet. He can win again at the chief expense of Archaeology, who's just 1 lb higher than his last winning mark and went close at Ascot last time out.
