Today's Horse Racing Tips: Final Voyage to score at Wolverhampton
There is one bet for today’s racing at Wolverhampton.
Wolverhampton Tip
16:10 – 1m½f Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap (Class 3)
With a host of top stables represented, a case can be made for all seven runners in this fascinating handicap for three-year-olds. However, I am extremely surprised to see FINAL VOYAGE (NAP – 1 point win bet at 11/1) available at such a big price. Although he has to defy top weight and could be vulnerable to an unexposed rival, he does have proven form in the book and remains open to plenty more improvement himself.
With an overall record of five wins and two thirds from his seven starts on the All Weather, James Tate’s son of Camacho certainly appears to relish racing on an artificial surface. He is unbeaten in three previous races over today’s course and distance and is rated just 1lb higher than for a cosy victory here back in February, when he beat a subsequent Listed winner.
That earned him a step up to Listed level for his last run, which saw him finish a well-held third over the straight mile at Newcastle despite facing a mammoth task at the weights. The winner of that race (Megallan) has since finished second in the Dante Stakes at York and the runner up was beaten by just nine lengths in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The drop back down in class and return to Wolverhampton will suit and the booking of Luke Morris is another positive. From stall three, Morris is ideally placed to take up a decent position in what could be a very tactical race.
Great King, a five-length maiden winner at Newcastle 18 days ago, is next best.
