There is one bet for today’s racing at Haydock.
Haydock Tip
14:10 – 1m2f Watch On Racing TV Handicap (Class 3)
This strong looking handicap can go to SKYCATCHER (NAP – 1 point win bet at 12/1), who will be making his British/stable/handicap debut having been recruited from France. Trainer Philip Kirby has him well entered, including in the John Smith’s Cup at York, and the handicapper has shown him plenty of respect by allotting on opening mark of 88.
After ending 2020 with a comfortable win over ten furlongs, he finished second on his seasonal reappearance (first and third have won since) and then ran well in a Listed race at Chantilly when last seen 58 days ago. His momentum got checked when going for a run up the rails that day but he kept on under a hands and heels ride to finish within four lengths of a horse that went on to be fourth in the Group 1 Prix Du Jockey Club next time. The horse in second has also run well since, finishing a close second in Listed company, so the form looks strong.
13mm of rain fell at Haydock on Monday evening and that turned the ground good to soft. Although it now looks set to dry out through the day, conditions should be fine and the excellent Jason Hart takes the ride.
Side Shot, representing John and Thady Gosden, looks the biggest danger.
