19:10 Santa Anita - Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf
There's set to be an epic battle between the John & Thady Gosden-trained Inspiral and Aidan O'Brien's Warm Heart in the Group 1 Filly & Mare Turf at 19:10 on Saturday and the top class performers dominate the betting and are likely to fight out the finish. A spectacular winner of the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket back in early October, Inspiral will step up to 1m 2f for this contest and that could well be her downfall with the proven stayer WARM HEART fancied to outstay the Gosden superstar.
A tremendous winner of the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot back in June over 1m 4f, Warm Heart then landed the Yorkshire Oaks at York before winning at Longchamp in Group 1 company in September. Her big wins have come over a-mile-and a half, but she has shown she has a decent kick, so a drop back to 1m 2f shouldn't be too much of a worry. She may not have the rapid kick Inspiral has in her locker, but this will be about stamina as well as speed and Warm Heart could look to make it a real test. If she does this with Ryan Moore in the saddle, she can just outbattle her British adversary.

20:30 Santa Anita - FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile presented by PDJF
Godolphin have a strong team lining up in the Breeders' Cup Mile at 20:30 as Mawj and Master Of The Seas take their chance in the coveted Group 1 contest. Both have major chances and sit towards the head of the betting, and of the pair Mawj makes most appeal, but there's a French-trained runner in the shape of KELINA that can down the pair in a wide open renewal.
Carlos Laffon-Parias will send over the daughter of Frankel to try and land the money and she showed when getting the better of the classy Kinross in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp during the Arc festival that she is a really smart performer. That success was over a distance just shy of seven furlongs, but she has a victory at Chantilly on her CV over one mile, so she should have no problems seeing out the trip. Kinross has shown to be a real top yardstick down the years and the pair pulled over a length clear of the field that day in France, so if she can emulate that run then she could well down the Godolphin pair in a thriller.

21:50 Santa Anita - Longines Breeders' Cup Turf
It's one of the finest renewals of the Breeders' Cup Turf in recent memories and there's European dominance at the head of the betting with the dual Derby winner AUGUSTE RODIN taking on multiple Group 1 winner Mostahdaf and recent Group 1 winner King Of Steel, while French star Onesto adds yet more depth to what is set to be an iconic contest. A surprise winner of the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, Mostahdaf then followed up by downing Paddington in the Juddmonte International at York over 1m 2f. The five-year-old has been victorious over 1m 4f, but Saturday's trip could see him struggling to maintain the gallop in the closing stages and it could be one of the other three proven stayers that reel him in late on.
Staying on for third in the Arc, Onesto was storming home, but he may just find himself out of position at a crucial point and that could be the same with King Of Steel, who handed Frankie Dettori one final win on British soil on British Champions Day at Ascot. He's a real grinder however and this could be a bridge too far. So, we fall on dual Epsom and Irish Derby winner Auguste Rodin, who ran a stinker in the King George at Ascot, but bounced back with a fine win in the Irish Champion Stakes. If Aidan O'Brien's Classic hero turns up with his A game then he could prove to be the classiest horse in this race and it's the Ballydoyle raider that is the selection in a real hum-dinger.
