Champion Hurdle Odds Update: Honeysuckle now 4/7 for Cheltenham Festival success
The amazing, incredible and still unbeaten Honeysuckle won her third Irish Champion Hurdle this weekend, and is now even more fancied to win the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival…
She’s rewriting the history books every time she’s seen on the racecourse. Now unbeaten in 14 runs under rules, including ten of the them at Grade 1 level, Honeysuckle was as incredible and imperious as we have come to expect from her, as she put her four rivals to the sword in dashing style.
Zanahiyr was the one to chase the eight-year-old down but it was all in vain, as Rachael Blackmore and her superstar partner stretched clear to win by six-and-a-half as-easy-as-you-like lengths.
Already a well fancied, and very hard to oppose, 4/6 chance for the Champion Hurdle next month, bookmakers shortened her even more to 4/7 - a price that more than reflects the quality of the horse. It may not be a price for the punter but there are a few more changes in the each-way market also, as we look to find the one that will chase her home in March!
Second-placed Zanahiyr was 12/1 for the Champion Hurdle prior to today’s race at Leopardstown, and is now a best price of 16/1 having been beaten fair and square very firmly, and there would have to be some step up in form for him to return a winner in March. Elsewhere, Echoes In Rain has shortened with some bookies and has been pushed out by others after finishing a close third behind Zanahiyr, and is now a general 33/1 chance.
