Cloudy Glen's biggest career achievement came when he produced a sparkling front-running display to win the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury back in 2021, but since then the Venetia Williams-trained ten-year-old has failed to get his head in front, so will be looking for better fortunes when he heads to Aintree this weekend. 

Available at big prices in the latest Grand National Odds, Cloudy Glen returned after a year off the track when he finished an excellent third place in the Grand National Trial at Haydock Park in February. Sent to the front from the outset that day, he ran an excellent race before tiring late on, but he failed to kick on from that effort when last being seen pulling up in the Ultima Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Often punters will pick out their Grand National Tips in various ways, but if you fancy a front runner then Cloudy Glen is certainly one to put on the shortlist, but he has to improve significantly from that aforementioned Cheltenham run, but if he can get into a good rhythm over his fences then he could well be a surprise package in what looks a wide open renewal.
