Where Could He Be Heading During 2023/2024 Season?
Much has been made whether or not Constitution Hill will remain over hurdles or whether he will be sent over fences for the 2023/2024 National Hunt campaign, but owner Michael Buckley has already stated that he would only want his star to go over fences if he couldn't become a genuine Cheltenham Gold Cup horse. A winner of the Aintree Hurdle over 2m 4f last April, the then six-year-old showed no signs of struggling with that trip, and while he's shaped like he could be a top notch three-mile chaser, it's likely he will remain over hurdles for the upcoming campaign.
With that in mind, we know Nicky Henderson works backwards from the Champion Hurdle and we know Constitution Hill will head there, so we can potentially look at last season's CV to see where he will be placed. With the Christmas Hurdle a Henderson favourite at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, Constitution Hill will be the spearhead for the Seven Barrows team then, while he will likely wait between December and March before a tilt at the Champion Hurdle.
A return in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle could be the starting point once again, while a trip to Aintree's Grand National fixture could see his season end, as the Henderson team may opt to avoid the Punchestown Festival at the end of the season.

2024 Champion Hurdle Odds
Already a red-hot favourite for the 2024 Champion Hurdle, Constitution Hill obliterated the Willie Mullins-trained State Man by nine lengths to land the 2023 renewal, but that Closutton star is sure to be back for another crack at the Seven Barrows inmate and is sure to be one of the leading rivals. His stablemate Impaire Et Passe was a tremendous six-and-a-half length winner of the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle and he could well be the new kid on the block this season and could be sent down the Champion Hurdle route, while Supreme Novices' Hurdle hero Marine Nationale is a prominent figure in the betting, but he's likely to be sent over fences.
There's sure to be some notable rivals emerge as the season goes on, as the Champion Hurdle line-up takes shape, but punters will find it tough to take on Constitution Hill, who looks a rock-solid option.
