Horse Racing Tips: Leader Puts Faith in Fergal

Despite Warwick's abandonment earlier this week, Friday still looks busy with five fixtures taking place. The first race comes from Exeter at 13:30 with things wrapping up at 20:30 at Wolverhampton. In between these there are meetings from Sedgefield, Lingfield and Dundalk. Here we outline the most popular Naps, the best bets of the most profitable experts, an intriguing set of stats and a racing news round-up...

Friday's Most Popular Naps
A trio of horses have been selected by three experts as the best bet of the day, with the first coming from Sedgefield in the 15:54 for Hughes and McCain. WHOLEOFTHEMOON could still have more in the locker in handicaps after a win and a second at Doncaster thus far in his burgeoning handicap hurdle career. He has top weight to contend with here but could be the class act of the field.
At Exeter, in the 15:40, another horse with three votes as the Nap is TRACK AND TRACE. He is still an unexposed chaser at seven and showed serious improvement to win at Catterick last time out when upped in trip. Jonjo O'Neill's charge will have to deal with a smart Paul Nicholls trained rival, but with the ground conditions in his favour a bold bid can be expected. Finally, the last of the trio of horses with three Nap votes is BUCKY LARSON in the 17:15 at Dundalk. He ran just a week ago here in a hotter race than this and did not disgrace himself in fifth, so now dropped in grade here this veteran course and distance winner looks to have a great chance of notching his first win in 14 runs, a winless stretch dating back to 2022.
Follow The Leaders
Interestingly today, the Naps of the two most profitable tipping outfits so far this season clash in the 16:10 at Exeter. Spotlight are still way clear atop the leaderboard and if their fancy in the race ROCK DANSE can win, they will go over £20 in profit and tighten their grip on the title. Fergal O'Brien's charge will have seven pound claimer Daire Davis in the plate, and his claim should prove handy for a horse who has been running consistently if not excellently. He won three starts ago at Hereford but has been well held since so it could be a stretch to assume he can win again here at the weights.
West Country take on Rock Danse with LONGSHANKS, who is a massive price for glory at the time of writing. This could be explained by the fact the last time we saw him here he ran off the track, and at the age of ten he is certainly not getting any better. However, he has recently switched to Kaley Woollacott's yard and he would be very well handicapped in this race if she has somehow got him back to his best, as she hinted at with a third on his yard debut. Finally, The Punt is siding with one of the day's most popular Naps in WHOLEOFTHEMOON in the 14:54 at Sedgefield. The youngster could be the real improver in the race and despite top weight being a burden, he could someday prove miles better than this company and is certainly worthy of respect.
- Spotlight - Rock Danse - 16:10 Exeter - P&L: £17.38
- West Country - Longshanks - 16:10 Exeter - P&L: £8.79
- The Punt - Wholeofthemoon - 14:54 Sedgefield - P&L: £8.13
How About Stat?
Linda Perratt sends two horses to Lingfield today, with their 428 mile trip meaning they comfortably top the day's longest travellers list. Will you be backing either KEEP ME STABLE (15:47) or BERNIE THE BEAR (16:50).

Racing News Round-Up
- Henderson Bullish On Constitution Hill - Nicky Henderson welcomed members of the press to Seven Barrows yesterday, and the key quotes to emerge from the visit were how bullish the trainer of CONSTITUTION HILL was about his star hurdler's chances of making it two Champion Hurdles at the 2024 Festival.
- Kim Muir Favourite Primed for Fairyhouse - Last year's Pertemps winner GOOD TIME JONNY is favourite for this season's Kim Muir and could take his final step back to Cheltenham with a win at Fairyhouse tomorrow. Hopefully he runs well!
- Rare British Raid Proves Fruitful - Massive kudos to Stuart Edmonds who rolled the dice with his smart novice chaser MARSH WREN in the Colreevy Mares Novice Chase, sending her over to Thurles from Britain and running out an emphatic winner. The more British trainers attempt to crack Irish races, the better.
