Horse Racing Tips: Glentruan fancied at Ayr for naps table leader
We are just over two weeks away from the start of the Cheltenham Festival and punters will be looking at the Cheltenham odds in the background over the coming days, but there's some racing taking place on Monday at three meetings and it all kicks off at Plumpton at 13:30. There's alternative National Hunt racing at Ayr, while there's an evening all-weather card at Wolverhampton and we pick out some of the most popular naps of the day from a host of racing tipsters...
Patrick Neville has a real live contender in next month's Brown Advisory Novices' Chase in the shape of The Real Whacker, who could be one of the eye-catching Cheltenham tips of the festival, but he has a fascinating runner at Ayr this afternoon in the 15:50 race and the 8/1 shot Glentruan is the nap of the day for current naps table leader Postdata from the Racing Post. Leading the way with a profit of £29.36, Postdata is hoping the course and distance winner can sparkle at the Scottish venue once again and he lines up here off the same winning mark of 120 for this event, so has to be respected.
Chasing Postdata at the top of the Naps Table is Andrew Bladen from the Wolverhampton Express & Star and that tipster, who has a profit of £22.19, heads to Plumpton's afternoon Jumps card for the best bet of the day and Bladen has napped Fortuna Ligna in the 15:35 contest. Currently a 100/30 chance, Fortuna Ligna will make a handicap debut today for Anthony Honeyball and having shown some positive glimpses over timber he will be looking to make the most of a mark of 103 and could be a leading player.
Honeyball could have an excellent day at the southern track and he will saddle the most popular nap of the day in the shape of Doyannie, who is a 15/8 chance for the 14:00 race, at the time of writing, and has been napped by four tipsters. The likes of Rory Delargy from The Irish Field and The Punt from the Racing Post have napped Doyannie, who was second at the track last time out and is looking to go one better this afternoon.
On The Nose (Expert Eye) is the form tipster heading into Monday's action and that tipster is bidding for a fourth winning nap on the bounce today and heads to Ayr's jumps card for the best bet of the day. Opting for the Michael & David Easterby-trained Where's Hector, the form tipster will be hoping the 5/1 chance can claim glory in the 15:15 event and the seven-year-old was last seen finishing third at Catterick, so will look to improve on that effort today.
RP Ratings from the Racing Post had a profitable weekend with both Saturday and Sunday's naps prevailing and that tipster has napped the 9/2 chance Jessiemac in the 16:25 at Ayr, who is aiming to improve on a second placed finish at the track last time out and the nine-year-old mare could be attractively handicapped.
Wolverhampton will host a bumper all-weather card this evening that goes right through until 20:30 and punters will have to wait to that last race for the most popular selection on the card. That horse in question is the 7/4 chance Johnny Boom, who lines up for the Shaun Lycett and David Probert and the five-year-old has racked up two seconds and a first from his last three starts, so heads into the contest in excellent form and has to be respected.
