Horse Racing Tips: American Sniper to Scope in on Victory
A new week begins today, Monday 4th July, and of course there is plenty of racing action for fans to sink their teeth into. There's flat action from Ayr and Ripon whilst summer jumping comes from Worcester and over in Ireland at Roscommon..
As always, here at Horseracing.net we have picked out some of the most interesting or popular horses tipped up on the day, from a host of the UK and Ireland's most well respected tipsters and pundits...
Two horses have been bestowed with the honour of the most tipped today, with each selection being chosen as the winner by 13 tipsters overall. One of these runners is priced prohibitively for most punters at 1/4 at the time of writing, and that is Dornoch Castle for the Johnstons and Cieren Fallon at Ayr. On all known form this one, should win at a canter.
The other most tipped horse however is priced far more attractively at 11/10 and is AMERICAN SNIPER for David Pipe and Tom Scudamore at Worcester. He is set to run in the 14:45 contest and although this is a jumps card and usually the flat race is saved for the end of the day, this middle of the card race is actually a bumper. It is evident to see why so many fancy Pipe's runner to secure a win here after his promising performance in second place last time out when taking on a similar challenge at this same venue. This was only his second ever start and although he was beaten as the 7//4 favourite, the one that took out the race Dreaming Diamond looked fairly useful.
With the experience surely doing Scudamore's mount no harm and the lack of any opposition that looks, at this point at least, to be up to the standard of his conqueror last time out, American Sniper looks a good bet to take out the opposition and the race.
Often when examining the naps table leaderboard and seeing a runner proving popular enough to be chosen by seven contestants, the worry is the price will be too short. This is not the case with today's runaway most popular pick however, with 3/1 widely available on QUEST FOR FUN in the 16:10 contest at Ayr. Off for a mammoth 529 days between December 2020 and his seasonal debut this campaign back in May, a race in which he finished 10th and was weak in the market, Julie Camacho's charge put in a career best and sprung something of a surprise at 16/1 last time out at Thirsk when winning well over six furlongs under Paul Mulrennan.
The form of that race has worked out superbly with two subsequent winners in behind, and the manner of Quest For Fun's success indicated there was no fluke about the victory. He has a seven pound rise to contend with but due to the lengthy lay-off is still fairly unexposed, which will have lead so many of our naps competition entrants to put their faith in this son of Lope De Vega to make it back to back Scottish successes. Garry Owen is the highest ranking of the seven to have chosen Camacho's runner as his best bet of the day, sitting in fifth place on the table. The Spotlight tip of the day is also this runner so confidence is high from the press pack.
