Horse Racing Tips: York takes centre stage on Sunday
Just two tracks host racing today with flat action at York and summer jumping at Fontwell Park. Plenty of high profile trainers are sending runners to the Knavesmire today and the focus of most tipsters on-site is on the flat action for their strongest fancies. As always, we've compiled a profile of some of the most intriguing tips of the day here...
With the action at York dominating the consciousness of most racing fans on Sunday it is unsurprising to see the four most popular best bets of the day all come on the Knavesmire. A trio of runners carry the Nap hopes of six pundits respectively, the first of those being the choice of our new Naps table leader Garry Owen amongst others, Pink Crystal for William Haggas and Tom Marquand in the 14:20 contest. Owen recently overtook Expert Eye in first place and his best bet of the day is also the choice of Jason Heavey of the Star and Spotlight at the Racing Post. It is no secret Haggas and Marquand have had some season together and Pink Crystal looks another likely chance for the duo to score at York.
Primo Bacio in the 14:55 contest for Ed Walker and RIchard Kingscote is aother with six votes as the best bet of the day. The six that have chosen this as their strongest bet include the team over at Sportinglife.com, Brian Flanagan from the Irish Daily Star and Alex Hammond of Sky Sports Racing fame. All of these contributors need a good run of form to fire up the leaderboard and will be hoping this starts with Walker's runner in the second race of the York card.
Primo Bacio has been running better than the bare result this season, only falling to defeat by 2 and a quarter lengths behind Jumby last time out at Newbury and although on her last course appearance in 2021 she was well beaten that race was much tougher than today's assignment and she should go close providing luck in running.
In the same race, Gale Force Maya also has six tipsters placing their faith in her and she is the current 2/1 market leader at the time of writing. Jon Freeman of the I, the Score of Racing TV and Templegate from The Sun are all with Michael Dods' mare to score on Sunday in what looks one of the feature races of the day. On her last visit to York in late July Gale Force Maya battled on gamely to score by a neck over this distance and she definitely warrants her place at the top of the market on that run.
Over at Fontwell the two most tipped horses of the day with nine picks are Call Me Tara for Fergal O'Brien at 2/1 and Dynamite Kate for Neil Mulholland at 10/11. Both look to have strong claims and could be worth doubling up if this is your kind of play when backing shorter priced runners.
