Horse Racing Tips: Boom Boom to hand Henderson Newbury glory
Five race meetings will take place on Thursday and the racing all kicks off at Sedgefield over the sticks at 12:42, while there's alternative National Hunt racing at Newbury, Ludlow and Thurles. There's a solitary all-weather Flat fixture at Chelmsford City, which gets underway at 14:25 and goes right through until 18:30 with a bumper nine-race card and we preview all the action here and pick out some of the most eye-catching and most popular naps from a host of racing tipsters...
Nicky Henderson's Boom Boom showed huge promise in bumpers last season and will make his hurdling debut this afternoon when he lines up in the 13:20 at Newbury, and the Seven Barrows raider is the most popular selection amongst our racing tipsters. Five of them including the likes of The Brigadier and Melissa Jones from the Daily Express are napping the red-hot 4/5 favourite, who is currently a 66/1 chance for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle. A comfortable success today would see him enter the Cheltenham Festival picture and the four-year-old will be hoping to hand the five tipsters a winning nap.
Rory Delargy of the Irish Field is the form tipster in the naps table having bagged three winning naps on the bounce, and he will look to land the four-timer today and he heads to Chelmsford City for his best bet of the day. Siding with the 10/1 shot Show Me A Sunset in the 18:00 race, Delargy will be hoping his nap can build on a fourth-placed finish at Windsor last time out, and the course and distance winner has to be respected.
Jon Freeman from The i is another tipster in excellent form racking up two wins on the bounce and he is backing the Fergal O'Brien-trained Poetic Music, who is a 5/6 jolly for the 13:30 at Ludlow. Last seen finishing sixth in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival, O'Brien's charge could be another smart performer heading out today on an intriguing day's racing.
Whistler from the Sunday Telegraph currently tops the naps table with a fine profit of £21.13 and the top tipster will attempt to extend the lead at the summit and heads to Newbury for the best bet of the day in the 15:42. Siding with the Joe Tizzard-trained 7/2 shot Striking A Pose, Whistler will be hoping his selection can deliver on his first start this season, and off a 2lbs lower mark than his last outing then the six-year-old can get his head in front for the first time since November last season.
Andrew Bladen from the Wolverhampton Express & Star sits in second place on £19.21 and he's another tipster that heads to Newbury for the best bet of the day, and Bladen is backing the 10/1 chance Flemcara, who lines up in the 15:05. Emma Lavelle's ten-year-old was last seen finishing down the field at Warwick in April, but having had a lengthy break the veteran should be able to run a solid race off a 4lbs higher mark.
Other eye-catching naps include the 7/4 shot Quiet Flow, who is the best bet of Postdata (3rd in naps table) and that contender runs in the 14:20 at Sedgefield, while over at Thurles Brian Flanagan from The Irish Daily Star is backing the 11/2 shot Well Joey, who runs in the 13:40 contest.
