Horse Racing Tips: West Country Goes To The Max

Newton Abbot has been abandoned today but there are still four tracks hosting racing. In particular Newmarket looks interesting, but there is more to get stuck into so let's delve into the Naps, Stats and racing news for Tuesday...

Naps Table Leaders And Most Popular Nap Of The Day
All of the most popular Naps today come from Newmarket, with DREAM COMPOSER in the 13:50 the most popular with five expert votes. Dougie Costello rides for James Evans and this horse got better for his first start last year, so warrants plenty of respect in this fascinating handicap early on in the day.
At the top of the Naps table, West Country still holds a healthy lead and sides with the favourite in the 17:23 at Ffos Las, MULINAS. After proving his naysayers wrong and riding sixth place aboard Ain't That A Shame in the Grand National, David Maxwell is onboard this Paul Nicholls charge and we can be sure the horse will be cherry ripe for today with his handler chasing the trainers' title. He looks the most likely winner in this race.
On The Nose is amazingly the only other expert showing a profit this season, and is with ENGELBERT in the 18:00 at Newcastle. The horse ran a stinker last time out at Southwell to finish second last, but has won over this course and distance before and James Ferguson's charge is at least a big price.
Brian Flanagan is with a Roger Varian runner in the 15:30 at Newmarket, BOILING POINT. James Doyle rides one of the day's most positive market movers and is entered in the 2000 Guineas with some rock solid two year old form, so should take plenty of stopping if Varian has him ready to go on his first run of the season.
- West Country - Mulinas - 17:23 Ffos Las - P&L: £19.88
- On The Nose - Engelbert - 18:00 Newcastle - P&L: £0.21
- Brian Flanagan - Boiling Point - 15:30 Newmarket - P&L: £-1.46
How About Stat?
Paul Townend sits top of the Jockey course form tables today for his 46% strike-rate at Naas, and with the rider still on the crest of the wave from winning the Grand National he has three live chances to further enhance that win-rate.
