Racing in Britain will resume on Tuesday following a day off for HM The Queen's funeral on Monday, and there are four meetings on British soil today with the action taking place at Lingfield, Beverley, Warwick and Newcastle, while there's a solitary fixture in Ireland from Listowel, which kicks off at 13:25. Michael Appleby's King Of Stars finished third in the Beverley Bullet a few weeks ago, while the classy sprinter was last seen finishing fourth in the Listed Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster, and the consistent speedster will return to Beverley this afternoon for a fascinating 5f conditions stakes at 15:27. Catching the eye of five tipsters - including current naps table leader Expert Eye - King Of Stars will be bidding to get his head in front for the first time in over a year and at 100/30 looks a leading challenger for what should be a cracking renewal.
Arguably the main danger to King Of Stars is the Nigel Tinkler-trained Acklam Express, who is a red-hot 7/4 favourite, at the time of writing, and is the best bet of Glendale from The Scotsman, and this sprinter that finished third in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot will attempt to emulate that fine display and could be very tough to beat, if on top form.
The aforementioned Glendale will go in search of a third winning nap on the bounce with Acklam Express and two other tipsters are bidding for a hat-trick of wins on Tuesday and the first of those is Jeffrey Ross from the Western Morning News, who has napped the Andrew Balding-trained Chasseral, who is a 6/4 market leader for the 19:00 at Newcastle. Luke Tucker from the Cambridge Evening News is the other going for a third winning nap on the bounce and he heads to Warwick's National Hunt card this afternoon and has napped El Borracho, who is a 15/8 second favourite in a three-runner contest at 14:25.
Garry Owen from the Daily Record sits in second place in the naps table with a fine profit of £46.33 and the red-hot tipster is looking to bridge the gap with long-time leader Expert Eye, and Owen heads to the latter part of Beverley's Flat card and he has napped the Charlie & Mark Johnston-trained Qipao, who is a 9/2 chance for the 16:37 event. A winner last time out at the track, Qipao will face a sterner assignment today, as she runs off a 1lb higher mark, but if she can replicate that performance from last time then she has to be respected.
The third placed Ian Gaughran from the Irish Herald, who has a profit of £7.23 heads to Warwick's this afternoon and is backing the David Weston-trained Solstalla in the 15:00 contest, while Rory Delargy from the Irish Field, who is fourth in the naps table has put up Ben Haslam's eye-catching 12/1 chance Purple Martini in the 20:30 at Newcastle, as his best bet of the day.
