It's week one of the Racing League on Thursday evening and the hugely competitive action is set to light up Doncaster and also the ITV racing cameras with a sparkling seven-race card. Read our Guide To The Racing League here, but here we focus our attentions in finding some of the best bets on the card, and our in-house tipster Steve Chambers picks out his best bets across the card on Town Moor...
17:40 Doncaster - William Hill Extra Place Races Racing League Race One
All seven teams will be looking to get off to the perfect start in race one, but it's Wales & The West that can kick off the 2022 Racing League with a victory, as the William Muir and Chris Grassick-trained GALIAC can bound to victory in the 1m opener. Only seen last weekend at Goodwood, the three-year-old son of Kodiac ran a fine race when finishing third in a hugely competitive handicap contest, and lining up off the same mark of 88 today he can go two better and taste victory in this event.
He was staying on eye-catchingly in the closing stages of that seven furlong contest, so a step up to a mile should be a huge positive, as he tackles that distance for the first time, and at 4/1, at the time of writing, he looks a decent bet. A winner at Newmarket back in June off 86, he did all his best work in the closing stages of that race, and that appears to be his style of racing, so jockey Adam Kirby will be hopeful of finding suitable gaps during the event. Mercurius Power and Barley could be two lively rivals in this event, but Galiac should run a huge race providing his weekend exertions haven't taken too much out of him.

18:10 Doncaster - William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Racing League Race Two
Sixth in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot, Fresh Hope then came out at Leicester and claimed victory and is a warm favourite to land victory in the second race on day one of the Racing League, but there could be some decent value elsewhere to get stuck into.
The Stuart Williams-trained LORD RAPSCALLION is currently available at 14/1 with some bookmakers, and the six-year-old, who represents The East here will need to recapture some old form to land a significant blow here, but he's shown that he's more than capable of scoring off a mark of 85 and looks a cracking each-way bet.
His last win came two years ago at Gowran Park off a mark of 94, but he's been dropping down the weights in recent times, and while his last outing at Newmarket was slightly disappointing when fourth of five, he showed three starts ago when second at the same track off a mark of 86 that he can put in decent efforts. Just held that day over seven furlongs, the Williams-trained raider will look to emulate that display off a 1lb lower mark, and if he can then he could well sneak into the frame at the very least here.

19:10 Doncaster - William Hill Play Responsibly Racing League Race Four
It could prove to be a profitable even for the Stuart Williams stable as not only can the aforementioned Lord Rapscallion run well, but he can also saddle another winner in the shape of AKKERINGA in the 19:10 race. Available at 8/1, at the time of writing, the four-year-old heads into race four in excellent form as he was last seen bagging a neck success at Newmarket.
Despite his jockey losing the rein in the closing stages, Akkeringa stayed on eye-catchingly well to get his head in front, and with a meagre 2lbs rise unlikely to halt his momentum then he looks excellent value to storm to victory in this 6f 2y contest on Thursday evening.
A win and a third on his last two visits to Doncaster highlight his abilities at the track, and he still looks like he could be on a significant incline, and while the two market leaders Juan Les Pins and Quest For Fun, who have been racking up the wins of late, will be tough nuts to crack, it's Akkeringa that looks the value play.
19:40 Doncaster - William Hill Bet Boost Racing League Race Five
When sprinters are in flying form then it's certainly worth following them, and that can certainly be said about Richard Hannon's SIR HENRY COTTON, who has amassed two wins and a second placed finish in his last three runs, and at 8/1 he looks a cracking bet for race five on the card at 19:40.
A winner at the start of June at Windsor off a mark of 72, he quickly followed up off the same figure at Lingfield Park before finishing a gallant runner-up at Haydock off an 11lb higher mark. Just touched off in the closing stages by Swayze, that pair will do battle once again in this event, and Sir Henry Cotton will be 2lbs better off here, so he's more than capable of turning the form around.
He's 3lbs higher than that Haydock run, so a mark of 86 will be a new test for him, but he is in tremendous form and has to be respected in what is a cracking contest over the minimum trip of 5f.
