Royal Ascot Tuesday Tips: RaceOlly's six best bets for day one

We are set for a sensational week's Flat racing at Royal Ascot, and we have called on our resident tipster RaceOlly to provide his best bets throughout the week, and he has six sparkling selections for Tuesday's racing...
15:05 Royal Ascot - Coventry Stakes
ROUSING ENCORE has improved a heap on every run to date ending in beating two previous winners easily last time at Pontefract. The money came for the second that day so connections clearly think that one is smart but he was no match for the selection despite receiving 5lbs. That was his first run over six furlongs and the way he raced and the time he ran suggests he is a smart horse over this trip. Oisin Orr has proved very valuable on two-year-olds for the yard having won on two of his six rides on them and the yard has started this season with a 22% win rate with their two-year-olds and connections hit the places with a horse with a similar profile last year.

15:40 Royal Ascot - King's Stand Stakes
MAN OF PROMISE has the Blue Point team guiding him and has a very similar profile to that one before winning his first King's Stand. Would likely have won on only course start to date which came on debut when hindered when challenging in a race that worked out very well, the first five all winning their next starts and the 6th finishing 2nd. Looked better than ever after a 307 day break when winning a Listed race then a Group 3 in Meydan, both races where the form was hugely franked since (multiple horses winning group races next start) and travels so strongly that this trip could be perfect to unlock even more. First two in the market look about the right prices but this one could spring a nice surprise.

16:20 Royal Ascot - St James's Palace Stakes
John Gosden has won this three times in the last eight runnings and filled both places in 2019 when his runner was beaten by a neck. MIGHTY ULYSSES is a very interesting runner in this upped from handicap company for this Group 1 becoming of huge interest giving the yard record and abundance of talent they have. Excuses on seasonal debut when didn’t stay the 10 furlongs but solid form back to eight since and form of both races franked by those who finished behind. Frankie Dettori has a good record when taking rides here winning on 22% of them a figure that’s matched by the trainer Gosden.

17:00 Royal Ascot - Ascot Stakes
PROSCHEMA hasn’t been seen on the Flat for a while, but has been running to a good level over hurdles since and and the drop of 4lbs for this return makes him very appealing. Stays three miles over hurdles so this trip should be well within his grasp and placed off marks 5lbs lower when last campaigning on the Flat. Very interesting Dan Skelton comes here with him as he’s only ever come here once before with a Flat runner and books a jockey in the form of his life having won 10 of his 34 rides over the last two weeks. Horses at the top of the handicap have a good record in this and so do horses who mix flat and jumps.

17:35 Royal Ascot - Wolferton Stakes
Perotto is interesting in this, but preference is for FOXES TALES all things considered. Won over course and distance at this meeting last year and went on to win a Group 3 soon after. Wide draw hasn’t been as bad as people may think with double figure drawn winners coming 10 times in the last 20 years and he himself won from a wide draw on this card last year also. Four-year-olds have won 14 of the last 20 runnings and Foxes Tales started off this season well finishing in front of favourite for this Juan Elcano before excuses when favourite in a Group race last time when not staying the new trip. Perotto has the possible better draw and plenty to like too but Foxes Tales ticks so many boxes it’s hard to go elsewhere.

18:10 Royal Ascot - Copper Horse Stakes
NOT SO SLEEPY is a very intriguing runner in this giving his form at Ascot over timber (3 from 3) and the fact he was better than ever this jumps campaign which included winning the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth at Newcastle and finishing 6th in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham to finish up. Might have needed rain but has plenty of form on good ground and better including two wins and a good 4th in the ultra competitive bet365 trophy at Newmarket when running off a flat mark of 92 but was just rated 122 over jumps at the time so having improved over 40lbs on the jumps it’s worth risking that the 7lbs higher mark here is well within his grasp. Last few Flat runs have been good including when placing off this mark at Doncaster after a 168 day break and comes here much fitter.
