Ed Quigley: Two 9/1 tips for the weekend racing at Kempton and Warwick

There is some quality action at Kempton on Saturday, with a fiercely competitive Lanzarote Hurdle on the cards, and the prospect of an absolute belter in the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase. There are seven entries in the latter, and a case can be made for all runners, with the lowest rated horse in the field, the 11-year-old Master Tommytucker being the individual who bolted up by 12 lengths in this race last year. With the prospect of the likes of Dashel Drasher, Eldorado Allen and Fanion D'Estruval locking horns, this will be a must-watch contest.
For bets on the card though, my patience is wearing thin with CARIBEAN BOY, but I am yet to be proven wrong on my theory of 3m being his bag, as he got no further than the first fence at Ascot last time out. Off a mark of 145 he still has the scope to to be better than that rating, and if he can return to the form which saw him thump Fiddlerontheroof in a Grade 2 at Newbury last season, then will be playing a big part in this. If they adopt the front running tactics once more that could really suit him, as he looked much more effective racing in the manner last year, and getting in a rhythm at the head of affairs at a track like Kempton is always a big tick to have in the box.

The Lanzarote looks too tricky to decipher at this stage. Connections of a few of the entries are yet to commit to the assignment, but no doubt the picture will become a lot clearer by the end of the week. It is just a shortlist for now!
I will be heading off to Warwick for my other bet on Saturday, and in the Classic Chase at 15:00, I think last year's winner NOTACHANCE can do the opposite of his name and land back-to-back renewals of this race. The Alan King-trained eight-year-old showed all his battling qualities to get the job done in this encounter 12 months ago, but hasn't sparked since. However, the handicapper has started to release the handbrake, and as a consequence he has started to drop back down the weights, and runs off 139 - the same mark as when winning it last season. Soft ground will be absolutely fine, and he should make a bold bid in trying to defend his crown.
