St Leger Odds: New London slashed in Leger betting after Goodwood win

The Godolphin team saddled the winner of the final Classic of the season last year when the classy Hurricane Lane bounded to glory on Town Moor, and in New London they have another potential staying star in their ranks, as he bounded to an eye-catching victory in the Group 3 Gordon Stakes on day three of Glorious Goodwood. In the immediate aftermath of the race, the son of Dubawi, who had been touted as a potential Derby contender at the start of the season, was slashed into the 7/2 favourite for the St Leger, and he shaped like there could be a lot more to come.
Quickening up impressively for William Buick, New London maintained the gallop in the closing stages, and while he ran around a little up front duly hindering the third place Hoo Ya Mal, momentarily, New London was much the best horse in the race and land the prize to land the spoils for favourite backers.
You'd expect it to be all systems go for the St Leger now and Appleby will fancy his raider can land a significant blow in the race that is sure to attract a stellar cast in a few weeks time.
Sitting second in the current ante-post betting is the Irish Derby hero Westover, who is a 5/1 chance, and will look to bounce back from a poor showing in the King George at Ascot, while the Aidan O'Brien-trained Changingoftheguard is the next in the betting, and that Ballydoyle raider is available at 15/2.
Other notable names towards the upper echelons of the St Leger betting include Francesco Clemente (10/1), who caught the eye the other day, while another Godolphin raider Secret State who has also tasted victory this week and the classy Eldar Eldarov are another brace of star three-year-olds that could take their chance in the final Classic of the season.
