Today's Horse Racing Tips: Asjad to star at Doncaster on Friday

There are three bets for today’s racing at Doncaster.
Doncaster Tips
15:15 – 1m6½f racehorselotto.com Mallard Handicap (Class 2)
Despite the overnight rain, the ground may not have eased enough for connections to allow PRINCE ALEX (1 point win bet at 13/2) to take his chance. However, if he does run, then he is taken to follow up his gutsy win at Goodwood last time out. That took his record to an impressive 6-11 on turf, and the extended 1m6f trip around Doncaster looks ideal for him.
At a much bigger price, I fancy CARDANO (0.5 point each way bet at 33/1) to outrun his odds. This Ian Williams-trained five-year-old has won on a variety of different surfaces so won’t be inconvenienced whatever the conditions. He’s been freshened up following two disappointing efforts in May/June and prior to those, he had recorded consistent form figures of 22112. He is yet to win over this far but was beaten by just a neck over the trip at Musselburgh earlier in the season.
Prince Alex
Cardano (EW)
15:45 – 6½f Cazoo Handicap (Class 2)
ASJAD (NAP – 1 point win bet at 9/2) almost made it three wins from three starts at Ffos Las two weeks ago but went down by just a head to the reopposing Desert Doctor. That was his first run for 50 days and it will have put him spot on for today. Out of a Listed-winning mare, this £150,000 yearling purchase made a fine start to his career with convincing wins at Salisbury and here at Doncaster. Jim Crowley takes over in the saddle and the pair will break from an advantageous draw in stall six. The shortlist is completed by the in-form pair Mitrosonfire and Able Kane.
