Today's Horse Racing Tips: Bay one of three tips at Nottingham on Friday

There are three bets for today’s racing at Nottingham. If you are attending the meeting, look/listen out for me as I’ll be on the Punters Panel at 12.45pm to go through the card. Good luck if you have a bet.

13:50 – 5f MansionBet Bet £10 Get £20 Handicap (Class 6)

It is interesting that BOUDICA BAY (NAP - 1 point win bet at 3/1) is sent out again so quickly after finishing second over this course and distance on Tuesday. Unusually slow away that day, she still had plenty to do approaching the latter stages but passed four rivals inside the final furlong and almost got to the winner. It was a fine finish from Eric Alston’s classy mare and built on wins at Haydock (made all) and here at Nottingham (prominent before winning comfortably). Six of her seven career wins have come on good / good to firm ground so the slightly quicker conditions today will be in her favour. With the stalls positioned on the stands side, her draw in stall six looks ideal and the excellent Jason Hart takes the ride again. The biggest dangers are the two last time out winners, Dana Forever and Harrogate.

14:25 – 5f MansionBet Watch And Bet Handicap (Class 4)

Despite being a small field, this looks a really competitive sprint featuring plenty of in-form, progressive runners. HAVEAGOMECCA (1 point win bet at 5/2), who has finished in the first three in six of her seven starts, looked really good when winning at Ascot three weeks ago and represents a stable that does well with young sprinters. It’d be no surprise to see the dual course and distance winner Fantasy Master bounce back to form, but with original selection Miss Nay Never declared a non-runner, it's the aforementioned Haveagomecca that gets the nod.

15:35 – 2m MansionBet Beaten By A Head Colwick Cup (Class 3)

The feature race on the card can go to MARGARET DUMONT (1 point win bet at 6/1), who represents trainer Hugo Palmer. Palmer has his string in fine form having sent out six winners and four placed horses from his last 18 runners. This filly built on promising placed efforts at Wolverhampton and Newcastle to record a very respectable sixth-place finish in a competitive 20 runner handicap at Goodwood last time out. Tipped up at 50/1 that day, she didn’t get a clear run but finished the race well and almost grabbed a place. Her last three starts have all been in a higher grade and she has been dropped 1lb by the handicapper since her Goodwood run. Cheekpieces will be worn for the first time and jockey Cieren Fallon is back on board. He rode her to an easy victory at Chelmsford in April and confidence will be high given that he has ridden six winners since Saturday. The only slight concern would be if ground conditions became too quick.

The biggest danger is Speedo Boy, whose recent form is excellent. His latest win at Ascot came in fine style but it was his first since 2018. If he can reproduce that form, he will go very close today. However, there are enough reasons to oppose him on this occasion, including a patchy overall record of 3-26 on the flat.

Elsewhere on the card, the most likely winner of the day looks to be TREGONY (16:10). However, she is an extremely short price and doesn’t qualify for a bet. One to watch with interest is SERENITY in the opener at 13:15. She shaped with a lot of promise on her debut at Newmarket and is entered in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Another at a very short price that will be tough to beat is DIAMIL (15:00), who lost out by just a short head in a Leopardstown handicap when last seen and drops back into maiden company here.
