Today's Horse Racing Tips: Bonneval one of two tips at Ascot
There are two bets for today’s racing at Ascot.
Ascot Tips
13:55 – 1m Racing To School Classified Stakes (Class 3)
Tom Marquand takes the ride aboard BONNEVAL (NAP - 1 point win bet at 4/1) for the first time and can guide him to a fourth career success. This lightly-raced James Fanshawe-trained four-year-old has made a good start to his career with three wins and four placed efforts from his eight starts to date. The only time he didn’t make the frame was on his racecourse debut, and he comes here in fine form having recorded figures of 322211 this year. Second over this course and distance in July, he has since won both races in the Racing League at Newcastle (dead heated last time out). Given that his only turf win to date came on soft ground, he shouldn’t be inconvenienced by the rain that has fallen during the week. Tasfeeq and Tahitian Prince can chase home the selection.
16:15 – 2m 25 Years Since Frankie’s Magnificent Seven Handicap (Class 3)
CARIBENO (1 point win bet at 12/1) looked a typical Sir Mark Prescott improver when winning six consecutive races between July 2020 and March 2021. His first win came off a handicap mark of just 57 and he lines up off 90 today so things are much tougher. He is now looking to bounce back from three defeats in a row, but two of those runs were over 1m4f and one was in a higher grade. In addition, his latest effort at Catterick came on his return from a 164-day break, so he is fully entitled to have come on for that run. Out of a Group 3 winning mare, this four-year-old remains open to more improvement on what will be just his 14th career start. Regular jockey Luke Morris takes the ride again and looks unlikely to face much competition for the lead. If that’s the case, the pair could be difficult to peg back. Future Investment is an obvious danger and Royaume Uni is an interesting contender for Ryan and Gary Moore.
