Fresh from a fabulous four-timer at Leopardstown yesterday, Ryan Moore heads to Windsor for five good rides with AMIR KABIR (NAP – 1 point win bet at 3/1) catching my eye. This lightly-raced four-year-old is Roger Charlton’s only runner of the day and is sure to have come on for his seasonal reappearance at Newbury last month. Having been held up off the pace, he mounted a strong challenge about two furlongs out and hit the front at the furlong marker. Unfortunately, he was collared late on but finished a very respectable third of the 16 runners.
This will be his first race at Windsor but he was an intended runner here last season before being withdrawn due to fast ground. That won’t be an issue today and with one of his wins coming on soft ground, conditions should be be perfect for this son of Mukhadram. A 1lb rise for his latest run won’t make any difference to his chances and he looks set for a good season.
The biggest dangers are likely to be Bad Company, unbeaten in four races over the ten-furlong trip including here at Windsor, and Water’s Edge, a ground versatile type who has won three times over this course and distance.
