Today's Horse Racing Tips: Atalanta's Boy to storm to Goodwood glory
I wasn’t even close with any of my six bets yesterday, although many of the selections went off at double figure prices.
I’m hoping to bounce back today with one bet at Goodwood.
Goodwood Tip
14:55 – 6f Great Sussex Way Handicap (Class 3)
Regular followers will know that ATALANTA’S BOY (NAP - 1 point win bet at 7/2) has been a very profitable horse for me over the past few years, especially when racing here at Goodwood. I have long considered him a horse capable of reaching a rating of 100+, so I’m delighted to see him still qualify for a Class 3 race off 96, albeit carrying top weight.
David Menuisier’s son of Paco Boy is relatively lightly-raced for a six-year-old sprinter having made just 20 career starts. He has had a few issues at the start over the summer including a disaster at Windsor (he reared in the stalls and was pulled up), before failing to land a blow in the ultra-competitive Stewards’ Cup. Those efforts resulted in him being sent of at 10/1 for his latest start and he bounced right back to form to record arguably a career best performance in Class 2 company.
Five of his seven wins have now been over this course and distance and he comes here at the top of his game. Regular jockey Thomas Greatrex can still claim 3lbs, and if they can break on level terms again today, another win seems likely.
